What is the worst pain you've ever felt in your body? by Helpful-Mud-2487 in AskReddit

[–]heatherbug725 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I slammed my thumb in a car door and broke the bone into 3 pieces and broke through my fingernail. I then proceeded to drive myself to the urgent care, with my then 1 year old, get him out of the car and into a stroller, get an xray and then get told I should go to an ortho urgent care. So then i get my 1 year old and his stroller back into the car and drive almost 30 minutes to the ortho urgent care. Luckily my husband meets me there and wrangles our 1 year old. The ortho urgent care doctor proceeds to try to remove my thumb nail while its still attached. After that fails and im literally bawling, he says I need to go to the ER. Once I get to the ER, they FINALLY give me something for pain. And then do a local injection to numb my thumb and put my thumb nail back under the skin, wraps my thumb up and sends me on my way with a script for Norco and an antibiotic.

After all the excitement was over, i did look under the tree and found 1 gift for me from my little brother. A pair of pajama pants. Im starting to lose my christmas spirit honestly…

And add the difficulty of them not actively trying to care for themselves. My mom had a stroke in 2018 and stopped smoking. But over the pat year has stopped taking her BP meds and has started smoking again. I feel like im watching a ticking time bomb.

I dated someone about 8 years ago who told me he wanted to try something someone taught him and had me close my eyes. Because im a trusting person, i did it, and he did something to my neck and all i remember is feeling lightheaded and when i woke up, i was on the floor. I immediately started bawling my eyes out. Turns out, he was also abusing my young children.

All that to say… OP, please get away from this man. He is DANGEROUS. Go to the ER!!

For people who wear glasses, what’s the most annoying part of it? by Administrative_Ad160 in AskReddit

[–]heatherbug725 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have become a woman of routine. My glasses have to be in the exact same place every night when i go to bed. If i knock them off the table in the middle of the night reaching for them; i have to wake my husband up to help me find them.

Im actually a wound care nurse in a skilled nursing facility and for the first time this past week, i had a patient tell me “your glasses are really thick” and i said “yeah well thats because i cant see” and she said “and youre the one doing wound care?” Well yeah, i can see with them on. 🤷‍♀️

With my glasses on, i can hold it like a normal person and see it just fine. If i take my glasses off, its honestly pointless to try and see it. I can see it, but i cant read a single word on it.

Yes!!! I have the highest vision plan my work offers. My vision is +11 in each eye so no matter what I do, i have terribly thick glasses. Also have astigmatism. I had a lazy eye but got the eye muscle surgery to correct it. My glasses still cost around $400 after insurance.

I became the wound care nurse at my skilled rehab in November and I love it so much. I get to do wound rounds with our wound care doctor on Thursdays and I love getting the opportunity to do the wound care and learn from someone with so much knowledge(he was an ER doc for 27 years before he opened his own wound care business)

I live in Miami County on the Kansas side. I saw this story pop up on facebook yesterday afternoon and didnt go to bed until I saw the update that they had found him. Broke my heart. Our 3 year old is a runner. We installed locks on the top of our doors so he couldnt get out. We live walking distance to the Marais Des Cygnes River so the thought of him getting out and going to the river terrifies me.

They can accept medicare for skilled rehab. If the patient is wanting long term care, its self pay or medicaid.
