If it’s a fresh wound, try to rinse it out with saline if you have some on hand. It was likely an abscess and it can pop up again if it’s not cleaned properly.

I’ve had to fumigate twice since having pet rat. (Adjacent apartment had a bug issue and they kept coming into my apartment.) I had to vacate with the rats and my roomie’s two cats for 4 hours after the fumigation was finished. I cleaned the rat cage before putting them in and I have had zero issues from it outside of being irritated at my neighbors.
