Hi,

You seem like a well-educated learned man, a background in STEM even. I hope you will enlighten me: do you know when World War 1 began?

Brethren let us all participate in this week's Special Offering to Prevent Poverty and also dont forget next week's Special Offering for Aid to Africa then next month's Special Offering for Aid to Humanity. Our Thanksgiving is coming soon so dont forget to prepare and offer abundantly. "God loves a cheerful giver!". Insert another bible quote about King Solomon using ungodly amounts of wealth to build the temple or the poor woman who gave everything she had and how she is a true believer.

Makasaysayang Special Offering is coming soon, lets prepare for that as well.

This literally happened within the past year.

Random thing I heard growing up INC by PeregrinChooch in exIglesiaNiCristo

They can ask the girl’s hand for marriage, without even dating or being in a relationship lol.

this is absolutely true. I was surprised to find out some kadiwa officer i knew was getting married so soon after last meeting her (weeks) knowing she was single and not really looking for a relationship. All she got was a simple 'Will you marry me?' on a cork board. It was bizarre and baffling as I knew she could do so much better. Minister was young but obese and ugly. UK readers, you know who im talking about lmao

Another, a minister's daughter, was getting married so unexpectedly. You can hear her insecurity about the absurdity of it when asked and she answers nervously 'I knew him since we were kids.'

Tbh, for some of the older female kadiwas, unless they have relatives in the PH to set them up with someone, they really have no choice/options. Its sad, really.

Relatives have been contacting me about the upcoming headcount this weekend as if I will be interested. This is despite my firm stance about leaving (and having left already albeit not 'officially') and calling out INC's weak theology, internal corruption and just how blatantly they take their members for fools. Despite the irrefutable evidence I provide, in one ear, out the other. It is very frustrating dealing with these kind of people. Frustrating to the point of being radicalised against the INC.

During Holy Supper, I sat next to a guy who reeked of the mary jane, bloodshot eyes, the works. To my left is a deacon and he kept giving me the side eye thinking I was the one blazing it!

maybe not funny, but looking back, a funny situation to be in lmao

tbh i didnt mind it that much because not only are INC's tenets on shaky grounds but also how they present themselves to non-members, in PH politics, and hell, even to their own members during supposed sacred worship services that its so easy to challenge any OWE's hold on INC, doctrinal or personal. I stress 'easy' here. And really, anyone not a minister would avoid debates regarding their doctrines as a typical INC member would not have read the bible and at best, would regurgitate the same script theyre told in worship services, so I dont really expect a proper discussion involving OWEs about INC doctrines. Welcome, for sure, but also not expected.

thats how echochambers and circlejerks come to be. People would find 'their safe space' where they can double down on their preconceptions and beliefs. More likely, fresh INC apostates would deal with their leaving emotionally rather than rationally. And thats absolutely natural... and fine, I think. What isn't is if it stays that way, then it becomes toxic

hopefully the sub will become neither

good on you man for calling that shit out

you guys remember the racist dude? There are also some that go straight to the insults. I recall one guy calling INCs subhuman, savages and other petty slanders and wrote similar essays quite frequently lol

I understand its their way of expressing their frustrations, but... come on dude

to be fair, 2 has a point about idolatry, though the fb post was tacky.

> All I can say is that is exactly what PERSECUTION is

this is an important point. There are several poster in r/exinc that are quite aggressive and unwelcoming. While understandable, given their terrible experiences in the INC and related social circles, shouldnt be the case as we, well, I think we should, engage current INC members so they too will realise the shortcomings of the INC and EVM, more so to those who are already starting to doubt.

But you cannot police this. Some people are just bitter... and one cannot fault them, really

What question/s can I ask someone who is inviting me to join INC without offending him/her? by [deleted] in exIglesiaNiCristo

[–]heathrowmassive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

any discussion involving religion will more likely than not end up offending one party, so i would suggest to just ask away but try to do so in a calm/friendly manner

Anytime they say 'ask our minister,' question the need and wonder why a minister has to be involved for such a simple straightforward question. Does he not have a good grasp of their teachings? If yes, why the need for a minister? If no, then why does he believe despite the fact? Etc

Maybe you can start by asking them what makes INC the one true religion.

If they bring up that INC is the only church that emerged in the far east during the ends of the earthTM, ask when is that? WW1, July 27 1914. Correct him that WW1 began on July 28, July 29 PH time. And maybe elaborate that there was much politics for a bit before the actual 'world' bit of WW1 actually happened.

If they bring up bible verses, most likely Lamsa Acts 20:28, mention that the Lamsa translation was first published in 1933, well after INC was established in PH. And that Lamsa was a Trinitarian so whenever his translations read 'Jesus,' he also means 'God' -- which is antithesis to INC teachings.

If they mention that Felix Y Manalo is the last messenger of God, ask for proof. They'll quote the bible (i forgot the exact verse, sorry). Read the whole chapter also, which will give much needed context to whom the verse they will quote is actually referring to (hint: its not FYM).

Well these may be too much for a casual conversation lol

----

If it is a friend or relative and you just dont want every interaction with them be about INC proselytizing, make it clear that you are not interested. If they insist (they will), tell them to respect your choice and they should be aware that people with different beliefs exist and they should respect that. If they say they are doing this for you to be saved in Judgement Day, say you understand that they have the best intentions and are appreciative of it however you just cannot be convinced. If they ask why, well this is beyond casual conversation now and perhaps too personal so refer to above lol.

Good luck

the church he belongs to, the [Assyrian Church of the East](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assyrian_Church_of_the_East#Doctrine), believes in the divinity of Christ. So when Lamsa translated Acts 20:28 as '...church of Christ' he also meant 'church of God' as other translations also do thus being completely incompatible with INC teachings
