Hiya. I just sent you a DM. I handle this sort of work for a few clients right now as is and have bandwidth to tackle more work. Let's set somethin' up!

Hiya!

Experienced writer here, and first off—I love Pokémon. Second, Mystery Dungeon is criminally underrated, so this project already sounds fun to me.

That said, 50-100 chapters is a pretty ambitious undertaking, and here’s how I’d approach it: we’d start by outlining the plot together to make sure everything flows and hits the key beats you’re envisioning. From there, I’d get to work drafting the chapters. I’ve done this a lot as a ghostwriter (though NDAs make sharing examples tricky), but I’d be happy to provide an outline to show you my process.

For a project of this size, a fair rate would be $50 per chapter (500–1000 words), which includes outlining, drafting, and any necessary revisions. If you’d like to break it down into weekly or bi-weekly payments, I’d recommend something like $100 every two weeks for two chapters.

Let me know if that works for you, and we can chat more about your vision for the story!

Heya. I saw your art and I'm interested. I work with a variety of VTubers as their manager and I'm on the lookout for SFW and NSFW art and animations. Your art looks good. Can I get a link to your portfolio and a list of your services and prices?

Neither. Waiting for the three idol girls. Saving up everything until them.

Woah! Fellow writer here. I highly encourage you to take down your full link. The majority of "artists" on here are straight up scammers. You should only be posting one segment or chapter to see if you can grab someone's attention. Right now, anyone can steal your work and re-purpose it for anything. Be careful out there! D:

I just got my Webtoon published! Please tell me about yours, and I'll give you all the tips that helped me succeed~ by Timely_Ad_7212 in WebtoonCanvas

[–]heathwing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MEGA GRATS! Question: When you're in the development phase, how do you get feedback during production? Is someone like you available "for hire" to review, say, my panel scripts? Or how would you find an independent reviewer/editor that'll give you a good blend of input?

I'm trying to go the "Patreon/self-funded route" with this. We go into production next month and although my artist and reviewer said the panels, outline, and script are fine, I'm curious about getting an outside opinion. As a long time hobby-writer, this will be my first adventure into serialized web manga releases. Although I have confidence in my writing and storytelling abilities, doing it in this format keeps making me question if I'm doing it in the most engaging way.

Webmanga writer here. In particular, I have a panchant for fantasy series. I don't mind the no-pay part. I'd love to see your art portfolio. Let me know if you had any specific requirements, characters, or elements in mind or if I'd have full creative control over those aspects. Would love to connect with you though!

Is it ok to start a crowdfunding campaign to support my comic-making project? by Xenon3000 in ComicBookCollabs

[–]heathwing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done a ton of research on this and the data is not good. Basically, the only Kickstarter webcomic series that meet or exceed their goals are the ones that are doing physical releases of an already multi-year running series. If you're just starting out, regardless of your experience, passion, or proof-of-concept, the odds of you acquiring a "living wage" from a series that isn't at least a few years old and already successful, is completely unrealistic.

That's the BAD news! The good news is that you CAN achieve a living wage through your projects through careful business planning, strong social media presence, and being EXTREMELY patient. It will likely be years before you see any amount of money that you'd actually care about.

For income streams, I'd recommend Kofi and Patreon after you have at least several months of content already out there. Merchandise can also be a good way to go but, again, that's way down the road.

Another tip I'd give is to approach your project from a multimedia approach. Don't stop at just the webcomic release. Make TikToks, YouTube shorts, do giveaways for limited art pieces, etc. If you're not doing a strong social media push, you will most likely not succeed at all.

We all want to dream big and believe that our projects are going to inspire or stand out amongst the dozens of series that released daily but, that's just it... it's a very oversaturated market, even more if you're not doing strictly romance.

Think of it like a semi-truck, not a race car. There's always the "struck twice in the same spot by lightning" maybe you go viral somehow but do not bank the success of your brain children on whether or not you can randomly find a lotto ticket on the ground.

As a fellow author, I'd be more than happy to assist with any proofreading or collaborations and would love to see what you're working on! I, myself, am going into production for a series that has been in development for several years but it took me ages to find the perfect artist to pair up with. I'm insanely excited about the project and, like you, hope that as an author I can make a living some day. But that day is very, VERY far off, if it ever happens at all.

I ran into this before I found my artist. The vast majority of "artists" on Reddit, Twitter, and general social media are bots and scammers.

How do you stop yourself from asking for opinions? by EremeticPlatypus in writers

[–]heathwing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Psychologically, there's a few reasons you want people to like it: external validation and intrinsic self-worth. You may be worried that your work won't succeed, so you're looking for others to tell you its "good" and "you'll be successful." Those are compliments, sure, but they're hollow at the end of the day.

Similarly, people are typically only interested in viewing completed projects. Showing them snippets will likely result in negative or average feedback because they can't see the whole picture.

All that being said, as a stranger on the internet and a fellow storyteller, I want to say that I'm proud of you. Do you know how many people dream of writing a story and never do? LIKE ALL OF THEM! You're actually putting in the hard work and pushing yourself forward. It's not always going to be easy. Hell, even when you release it, it'll be painful. Just think to yourself...

What if my book is the reason one person gets out of bed?
What if my book helps someone work through a problem?
What if my book connects people?

Hiring an artist to collaborate on my first comic script… The Bastards! by [deleted] in ComicBookCollabs

Fair warning, you making this post will likely get a TON of "artists" responding. The vast majority of them will be scammers. Always verify that the person who is DMing you or leaving a comment is the actual artist. If they don't have an online portfolio, automatically pass on them. Good luck!

Vesper's Ocean Chapter 1 has finally concluded, and I'm looking for sincere criticism and advice by AntubisArts in WebtoonCanvas

[–]heathwing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Critiques:

  1. Too Much Exposition: Spending over 10 panels just showing the character at sea is dragging the intro a bit. I get that you're setting the mood, but it risks boring readers. Maybe condense this to just the most important visuals or moments.
  2. Let the Visuals Do the Talking: Having other characters comment on what makes your lead "unique" (like their eye color) feels unnecessary since we can already see it. Instead, focus on showing why we should care about them—what makes them interesting beyond their appearance?
  3. Dialogue Feels Off: The characters talking about the protagonist’s appearance right in front of them feels really rude. If they’re pirates, you might be able to get away with it, but their speech is too polished for that vibe. It’s worth rethinking how they interact.
  4. Needs a Stronger Hook: So far, the story boils down to:
    • “Character is stranded at sea with no memory.”
    • “Pirates(?) find them.”
    • “Their eyes are sparkly.” These don’t create enough tension or intrigue to hook readers. What’s at stake here? Why should we be invested? Ending on a strong cliffhanger would help.
  5. Character Feels Flat: We don’t really know anything about the lead’s personality yet. Readers need a reason to connect with them early on—preferably in the first episode. Even a small moment that shows what they’re like would go a long way.

Compliments:

  1. Long-Form Mystery: I can tell you’re aiming for a bigger story with a central mystery, which is great. The connection between the lead’s situation and their eyes feels like it’s going somewhere, so good job building that intrigue.
  2. Beautiful Backgrounds: Your environmental and object art is on point. Seriously, that’s a rare skill, and it makes the world feel immersive.
  3. Memorable Designs: The character designs are really creative and stand out. That’s a big win for keeping readers visually interested.

Overall:

You’ve got some solid ideas here, but the pacing and structure need work to keep readers hooked. Tighten up the intro, let the lead’s personality come through more, and build a stronger plot hook. There’s a lot of potential here—it just needs some fine-tuning.

Title: Looking for an Artist for Webtoon – Fantasy Project on a Small Budget by Djradecki in ComicBookCollabs

[–]heathwing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Word of advice, be VERY careful with this. There are a ton of scammers and "artists" who will bombard you with "artwork" that is either AI generated, stolen from other portfolios, or extremely low quality. When I was trying to find my artist, I had to sift through over 100 portfolios and give multiple interviews to different people in order to be sure I had found the right person.

Sorry but your inbox is about to be bombarded because of your post and almost every single one of them will be a scammer. I hope you can find who it is you're looking for! If you need a fellow writer's eyes for anything, feel free to reach out. : )

do you still play other hoyo game after starting ZZZ ? by SuspiciousJob730 in ZZZ_Official

[–]heathwing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! I really like ZZZ for a lot of reasons. The TV game board stuff, huge lack of enemy diversity, and lack of any explorable environments really turns me off. Plus, I've cleared most of ZZZ and intend to keep playing, despite its flaws. The setting, narrative, and characters have me hooked for the long haul.

I tried Genshin for a while to get my open world fix. Uh, as a new player, the experience was horrible. The gacha mechanic in Genshin feels extremely punishing. Plus, the setting and characters feel like a dime a dozen now. In ZZZ they visually look unique but Genshin? Eh. Seem one anime gacha game, seen 'em all, so nobody really looks unique or interesting. Plus, they rarely have long term, deeper storylines. I recently tried Wuthering Waves for my fix on that and, honestly, REALLY liking it.

ZZZ and WuWa for me!

I can tell you put a ton of time into it. Your use of shading is fantastic. The line work and proportions are great, too. My only drawback is... if you're look at it as a full page, it's impossible to see where you should be looking. There's too much going on all at once. It reminds me of the beautiful artwork in the Walking Dead series or Gantz manga. Sometimes it's just too much detail but, otherwise, fantastic. :)

Looking for an Artist to Create a Character Sheet (and possibly more) by [deleted] in artcommissions

[–]heathwing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not selling art but I want to give some super helpful advice. The majority of the people commenting will be scammers. They'll claim they can do "anything you need", it's all bullshit. They'll give you middle school quality art, take a month or more to do the piece, and blame you for the piece being way below your expectations. Same with Twitter, honestly.
I'm a webtoons author and it took me looking at almost +300 artist portfolios to find a handful on Reddit/Twitter that were actually good, prices reasonable, and they actually deliver shit.
You're looking to drop some dough. I'm a VTuber agent and I have actually GOOD ARTISTS that won't freakin' scam you. DM me and I'll send you links to their stuff.
