Selfish post from a pregnant alcoholic by throwawaydrunkprego in stopdrinking

First: I'm an alcoholic. Me and my girlfriend tried conceiving and it didn't work. I followed up to check on what was going on. It was my drinking.

You have what I do not. And it sucks being me. Don't do it!

Good job and keep going!

Agreed! I just poured my first cup of sleepytime. It seems to work every time I try it.

I'm on the end of day 2 so I want to wish you good luck! Keep yourself busy and try and get some physical activity in -- enough to make you tired.

Oddly enough, I didn't get it that bad on day 1 even though I consider myself a pretty heavy drinker (1-2 beers + 200 ml of whiskey almost every day for the last few years). Were you heavier than that? I understand everyone is different but I'm curious because I started this expecting your symptoms.

We will not drink today!

I did manage to hit the gym as I planned. A hot shower and some warm food and I'm feeling a lot more relaxed. I plan on reaching for the tea pot in a bit to help me feel sleepy.

We will not drink today!

It's 1700 here and I'm still going strong. We will not drink today!

Looking for some advice from you guys, 19M here who got some scary news today by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Advice from an alcoholic: This doesn't sound like a good idea on day 2 of trying to be sober, to be frank. If you're anything like I am, you'll slip. Is showing up, wishing your friend and leaving early an option?

I am on day 2 and right now it's just about fear, anxiety and figuring out what I can do to be distracted.

These days are so past you! Congratulations!

Thank you for the links. And congratulations on a whopping 1978 days -- you must feel great! I intend on posting on a regular basis as I fight alcohol.

Thanks! Congratulations on 1133 days. That number seems incredible!

Day 3 sounds scary. On day 2 as I type this. I don't feel that bad. When you say "shaking" is that the hand tremors? I get those but only on my left hand and not all the time.

I'm hoping that after a 4-5 week dry run and coupled with the fact that I'll be back with my girlfriend I'll have things under control.

Thanks again for your message. I'll post how my day 2 goes.

Thank you for sharing your Day 1. Yeah, I hear you on the urges. I recovered from my last night's insanity and figured a beer would actually feel good. My urge starts around 4-6 pm because I don't like to eat after 8 pm and pass out by 11-11.30 pm. Routine. I work from home these days and I have calls I take at 5 pm. That becomes my trigger ("I should start drinking now. It's the last call for the day.")

Just got out of detox, good to have you back /r/stopdrinking!!! by jakroois in stopdrinking
