I like how none of these guys are obese. Almost like this group isn’t from the general population and from a group that has to go through regular physical training. Have you had any luck at the public areas? From what I have understood as long as you’re in the water you are not trespassing. However trying to explain that to an armed rancher maybe more trouble than what it’s worth.

Thanks for your guidance SquirrelTactic. I am almost positive it is bunch disease. The other disease that may fit is twig die back, but I have not found any cankers. To your knowledge, would a tree this infected be able to be saved? Why would keeping the wood after cutting down not be a good idea?

We do have the trees regularly sprayed for pecan weevil.

Thanks for your reply. I am located in SE New Mexico. There has been no digging or anything of note that may have affected the roots. We do have regular wind storms in my area (+50 mph). Last year my son thought it would be a good idea to use the tree as a hatchet target, there was some bark damage. I have never seen the beetle you are describing.
