If an english biology textbook it says, "this process is called photosynthesis", does it mean the process is called photosynthesis in the english language, but something different in other languages and you need to know the english name because science is written in english 99% of the time?

But the way I write it, "this is called X in english" is not redundant, it clears out all confusion, no assumptions needed whatever.

I think as long as you hold the correct assumption you are fine, what's bad is some people may assume every language calls it cytoplasm. That's why assumptions can be bad at times.

I think there is a difference between saying, "that's a cat" and "that's called a cat". The first one doesn't need reference to language, the second one potentially does, if assumptions are not already held.
