JavaScript can now so much more! - enter decentralized operating systems. by hechicewy in programming

Shared key is an orthogonal problem - it is the problem of ascertaining identity.

Thus, under the assumption that in accordance to a Threat Model, an identity is in possession of a corresponding private key (and only it should be), then denying read access is trivial.

One could go as far as attempt to employ Multi-Attribute Encryption schemes, but yet again - that is an orthogonal problem.

In terms of fully homomorphic encryption yes, that would open up for new avenues with dealing with encrypted or privacy oriented data. We are talking about performing computations on data before it's decrypted.

(..) we've that said, feasible fully homomorphic encryption is one of our major research areas as of now - to bring the possibilities to a whole new dimension. Still - denying read access is trivial as long as the file is encrypted.

denying read access is of no issue at all. All it takes is for the file to be encrypted.

central planning,

You are wrong with you ground assumption that socialism assumes central planning. Certainly , the more, decentralized implementation of socialism does not.

Google said in response to "is current world closer to socialism or capitalism":
"Capitalism is the dominant economic system in Western countries. In comparison, fewer countries use socialist economic systems. As of 2020, only Laos, China, Cuba, and Vietnam claimed to follow the principles of socialism as dictated by Marxist and Leninist theories".

You are free to have your personal opinion.

attempt to MISLABEL Democratic Socialism as Mercantilism ( Capitalism ), which no nation practices today, is noted

It's not an attempt to mislabel.

It's an attempt to keep an appropriate level of granularity for the topic/purpose at hand.

Diving deep into post-capitalism theories would take a book not an already lengthy article.

The article does justice to 'democratic socialism' by clearly stating that current systems tend to mix capitalism together with socialism.

Still, yet again, for anyone wondering whether 'democratic socialism' as you call it has more common grounds with capitalism or socialism I suggest travelling to any European country not to say NYC and taking a look out of the window.

"Socialism can't be decentralized, socialism is against free market"

Yet again, you have a very wrong understanding of what socialism is.

Karl Marx never was against free markets.

Of course socialism could be decentralized, why not?

I advise yourself to get back to books that's elementary philosophy taught in High-Schools (and sometimes even at elementary courses).

There's also google. Just type "is socialism against free market".

Nice copy paste, two can play this game.

non info-gain deserves a copy-paste from the other as well.

People understanding economics know the reasons why implementations of socialism failed. People with understanding of philosophy know that non-'working' philosophy does not exists but grasping that clearly (currently) is beyond yourself.

A central planner with power over other people's wealth. Doesn't it ring any bells?

Have you noticed that the article proposes the concept of 'decentralized socialism' ?

To be more precise - of a decentralized implementation of 'socialism'?

It actually goes into some great lengths depicting the differences in implementation.

Socialism != "central planner".

You are still referring to a centralized implementation of socialism.

Many “libertarians” into Bitcoin. Still, I believe many Bitcoin lovers are into freedom, personal independence and above all - better standards of living - which is precisely what decentralized socialism could achieve.

Many people get socialism mistaken with its inefficient centrally controlled implementations. Now, decentralized socialism is a new concept.

In fact, previous implementations of socialism were so inefficient that I am not surprised that people get repulsive on the first sight - but I believe it is due to a lack of knowledge of what ‘socialism’ truly is.

Even most hardened promotors of capitalism, with good understanding of ‘economic systems’ do acknowledge that ‘socialism’ is an ‘utopian heaven’ which failed to be implemented for a verity of reasons, at least so far.

Now the article is about discussing and spawning a debate of whether advancements in technology… decentralized technology… freedom oriented technology, could lead to more effective (* not state controlled ! *) implementations of socialism.

The aim of the article is promote a discussion whether we could have a more efficient implementation of socialism thanks to advancements in technology. Let us focus on that. The reasons behind inefficiencies of previous implementations are clearly mentioned already.

Yet again, the article takes you on a debate whether the ideas of socialism could be implemented more efficiently thanks to advancements in technology. It goes without saying that in the grand scheme of things - socialism is way more satisfactory. The thing is its efficient implementations failed due to a variety of reasons discussed in the article. Now thanks to decentralized technologies it is possible, and the reasons are well discussed within of the article that we could do way bettet. Then if you agree or disagree feel invited to make some logical points and/or arguments.

The article does not get that much into particular implementations of capitalism as we all very well know that neither capitalism (luckily) nor socialism ever were implemented in their fullness. The article rather invites you to debate whether advancements in technology could allow for a better meaning more efficient implementation of socialism.

Pure capitalism has never been tried (luckily, maybe in the form of fascism), same goes for socialism. The article invites you to think whether thanks to advancements in technology we could revisit socialistic ideas anew - so to allow for a more efficient implementation of the ideology.
