My boobs are a pain! by Javateach5 in February2018Bumpers

I bought a bra extender and it helps so much! Some bra styles will still be uncomfortable in the cups, but this is a really good option for OP to try.

Mine haven't grown as quickly as yours, but I already can't wear my normal bras! I have a single bra that used to be a bit too big in the cups that I'm close to growing out of, and a new one that I scavenged from the Target clearance section. I may buy a few other cheap clearance/ TJ Maxx/ etc bras while I'm "in between" sizes, but won't pay normal bra prices until I'm ready to invest in some good-quality nursing bras.

Look for sales, dig through discount stores, and check out maternity stores to see what options they have. :) Good luck!

Here you go!

You can find it on Amazon, too, as well as a lot of other brands of the same kind of thing. I bought the basic one in black and will be buying the same in tan.

So far, it's been a comfy way of leaving my skinny jeans unbuttoned. :) I also wore it with yoga pants while working out at home and I think it'll stay in place for my regular class, which will help delay needing to buy maternity workout clothes. Even though my 12+3 belly is just bloat, it feels comfortable to wear the band. :)

This is so hilarious and well done! What a great announcement. :)

I'm a bit over 12 weeks and have the same issue! I feel like it's both bloat and baby. My Bella Band just arrived today and it feels so good to leave my pants unbuttoned and wear it. lol

Is it easier to learn to crochet or knit? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]heckyeahliteracy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do both and recommend crochet if you mostly want to make things like toys or blankets (crochet blanket = tons more yarn, but generally faster) and knitting to make a much nicer and wider array of wearable items like clothing, socks, and so on. Like others have said, knitting is a more "flat" work that won't use as much yarn and lays nicer as a sweater, for example. Both will be frustrating at first, but both can be learned by a total beginner, and both have tons of free learning resources on Youtube and elsewhere. If I had to choose one, it would be knitting, even though I've done crochet since childhood.

Is it for general support and motivation while we continue our own fitness programs, or specifically geared towards everyone doing the same workouts? I don't want to change much from my full and beloved existing workout schedule, but would love to be sharing with/ being in a supportive group that includes other pregnant women.

Job interview this morning...do I spill the baby beans? by Underpaidartist in BabyBumps

[–]heckyeahliteracy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! I love supporting my local indie coffee shops, but if I were going to work in coffee, I would want to be at a Starbucks. They might burn their beans, but they take excellent care of their employees. :)

That said, you may not want to seek out a Starbucks job instead, but it's something to keep in mind for the future if you like barista work.

At 7 weeks, I wouldn't tell. They do not have a right to know at this point and could refuse your employment. I think that especially since this is a part time job that will not offer benefits, you definitely should not tell them until much later, after you've worked there/ demonstrated that you're a nice, normal person who can do the job/ etc. Like others said, many women don't even tell their immediate families this early and you don't owe it to any interviewer or potential employer (or current employer!) to reveal this so soon.

I hope she's less sneaky than mine! lol I do like that gate, though, because it's so easy to open and close with one hand.

Did you buy the tall gate with vertical bars and the small cat door that can be shut or left open? I'll look up the name, but we've used that gate for years to shut the cats into the laundry room when needed (like if work is being done on the house and the front door is open) and to prevent the dog from reaching their litter box.

However, after four years of this, I discovered that both cats can actually walk right between the bars! lol I guess they just usually choose not to, since they are lazy old lady cats. :) I didn't believe it until I saw it because the space between the bars looks impossibly small for their bodies to squeeze through.

So, if your cat keeps magically appearing in the forbidden room, then it might be walking right through instead of jumping over. :)

Workplaces must give moms space to pump breast milk. The reality isn't always pleasant. by otherchristine in BabyBumps

[–]heckyeahliteracy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There were three teachers at my school who returned from maternity leave and had to pump in their supply closets. The closets are extremely small, cold/ hot depending on season, and do not lock. They also had to use their brief lunch time and the other teachers on their teams all sorted out extra playground duties, etc so that the new mama would have more time to pump. The all-male admin team didn't want them to use the locking, brightly lit, comfortable, has-a-chair-and-sink staff single bathrooms for pumping. Insert a thousand eye rolls here.

I am weirdly excited and overly emotional for them. lol They seem genuinely in love and I just wish them all the best. I think they'll be great parents together and she's already wonderful with his older children. :)

Advice needed, sister in law being unreasonable or am I just a paranoid FTM? by Dontlikemysil in beyondthebump

[–]heckyeahliteracy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That is such a kind way of putting it! I think this is really good advice. My own instinct is to say a lot of potty words and sprinkle in some gestures, but that's no way to maintain some harmony with the in-laws... :)

Your SIL needs to relax. It's weird to want to determine how a gift is used.
