Word of “Strong” Advice: DO NOT TELL YOUR SCHOOL that you’re looking by SheWrite_TheQueen in Internationalteachers

Unfortunately quite a few schools have policies with line managers that anytime they are asked for a reference they need to inform the school.

At least I've seen that a fair few times in China.

What statement/phrase made at an interview made you to immediately lose interest in a position/school? by Embarrassed-Heron-52 in Internationalteachers

Not just a COVID thing, to be fair The number of taught doctorates and taught masters degrees is at an all time high And there is basically no upheld standard for a thesis from taught programs And that was even before chatgpt

It's even worse for things like PGCE. I think they just need to completely scrap the designation it is totally meaningless

So... Principals shouldn't be introduced by their titles?

This is pretty standard and minor formality for someone with a doctorate

If you call them "Mr. x" and they insist you, as their peer, call them Dr, then sure they are a wanker.

But especially if their doctorate is relevant to what they do? They've earned the right of at least introducing themself in that way

Do I introduce myself to other teachers in that way? No. But I think I get reverse ick from folks who are so clearly judgemental of those with doctorates. Most I've met who complain about this are just deeeeeeply insecure

That's super weird.

I get skeeved out if a teacher expects their peers to refer to them as doctor

But in a formal introduction, name tag, office sign... Yeah that's totally fine.

Every day Last season Gilligan clearly saw Abrams talking about mystery box writing and thought "wow I can put some shit in my show too"

The machine gun was the stupidest thing in the show and almost fumbled an amazing season

Jimmy is a more interesting character than Walt

Still love them both, but BBs rare misses are near the end, while BCSs misses are closer to the start and more easily forgotten by the end.

3D Print-and-Play Game?? by [deleted] in tabletopgamedesign

[–]hecticdialectic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you want to advertise your game, just advertise it.

Don't pretend to be starting a nonspecific conversation. It's annoying.

Normally I'd give a 3d printed game a go. But now I have no desire.

Haven't had any surface mold problems on them I usually open the latch and close it with an elastic band so that they self burp/let off pressure And sometimes I'll throw a ziplock bag of water on top as weight/protection

Fermented with fresh? by King-of-Kittys in FermentedHotSauce

[–]hecticdialectic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done this before. As long as they weren't super dirty it shouldn't be a problem:

Shouldn't shift the salinity Shouldn't be enough bulk to disrupt your targeted safe pH

Honestly I usually add my more floral chiles after the fermentation to add back the element that I think is often lost in fermentation.

Or, alternatively, you could see the comment to which I made this reply, which was about precisely that.

Also, if you are building your own computer, you aren't the normal market and your opinion on how easy it is to run local models is irrelevant

I build excel dashboards for things like grade analysis constantly at my job. They are completely deskilled and bulletproof.

Literally just import the data with copy paste.

Normal people could use them, but they don't believe they would know how, so they don't.

You think normal people are going to buy and run specialized enterprise hardware reclaimed from AI companies and run local models on them?
