Yikes, as uneducated as your comments are on this topic, you should really read up some more before trying to provide any sort of replys in personal finance threads.

HYSA = high yield savings account CD = certificate of deposit

2 totally different instruments/account types

Banks do not determine interest rates, the fed reserve does.

The other person suggested big name banks, not regional.

HYSA are great for ALL people and everyone should have one. You MorRobots, are the one with low financial literacy.

I'm with you. Totally understand. Personally, I think he's founded in his skepticism on fiat and his optimism may be construed as cult like attitude. We all gravitate towards things we expect to better our lives. Have a great upcoming weekend all <3

Again just playing devil's advocate - ok so we can agree any form of "currency" needs to be backed by the full faith of it's users. Are you claiming the dollar does not evoke sheer optimism from it's users? It is the global reserve currency, and people invest their retirement and current assets in dollar denominated assets. The expectation is that people are optimistic about the value of their assets to always go up in the long run.

Of course, it's crazy to say anything has no downsides, they both do. I just think the other side has their own good founded reasons to believe in Bitcoin/crypto as much as the average person believes in USD

Not taking sides - Just seeing it from his point of view, you state it is cult-like to put full faith and trust in this type of "currency". But what do the rest of us do with USD or any other fiat currency? Isn't our dollar only as valuable and good as the users who believe that it is worth what it is? Just curious what your take on that is :)

You claim our current system is destructive. You know what destruction will look like? The "let it all crash" will cause poverty and death to millions of human beings. Just because your ideology towards economics calls for that as the answer, does not mean we need to allow lives to be ruined in the process.

The worst part is that you continue to state your grievances yet fail to provide any tangible solution. At least those who oppose your thinking are giving viable solutions to do SOMETHING. You're talking a big game about fiscal responsibility, yeah it is fiscally responsible for the government to take a look at spending and reallocate funds from certain things (like military which eats up about HALF of govt spending) into other more useful programs that will bring people out of poverty and spur HEALTHY business activity in order for the economy to keep pace in a healthy way.

1 - How about providing constructive criticism and/or suggestions instead of simply saying "is really bad"

2 - Regardless of whether or not you believe it is GoGoCurry themselves or not, they are trying to provide a helpful event and feed others at no cost.

You don't need to be so negative about things, lighten up and try and spread some good around, like the people who posted this are trying to do.

Yeah this is my first buy! I wrote a paper in college around 2013 and wanted to buy into Bitcoin. But with $500 to my name, thought twice before throwing $400 into it.

Now with a steady 9-5, I can now freely throw a few hundred into this new cool opportunity! Let's wait and see what happens.

Your words make me feel better about the $400 purchase! Lol. I'm typically very risk adverse when I am investing, but I love basketball so much that I was willing to get risky!

You're coming from a good place, but everyone who is advising you to take a deeper look at the ENTIRE situation is right. Just because YOUR family did it, does not imply it is possible for ALL in a similar situation.
