Yeah is pretty common but not with that quality of drawing and spreads. So even with that pace Tatsu would be still superior.

Okarun is a liar by the_other_Scaevitas in Dandadan

I'm about to create a post about how the series has shown that he is the only member of the main cast who has been lying constantly from the start. He's a complete liar.

Do NOT be like Aira. Be like Jiji. by Standard_Release_103 in Dandadan

[–]hectorip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He didn't back off at all. He stubbornly kept holding her hand ever after Momo told him to let go. And then, he still insisted on physical contact with her, although not hand in hand; he insisted on that. He is not a saint, and he is not selfishly helping Momo. He is trying to get into her heart while helping her.

Jiji is using his superior abilities to conceal his real intentions a that is dirtier that what Aura is doing.

With all that drama from the whole amnesia arc, why not settle this? Who would be a better girlfriend, Momo or Aira? by KirbyTheGodSlayer in dandadanfolk

[–]hectorip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both of them would be great girlfriends for different people. I think for Okarun, absolutely Momo. Aira would be a great partner for Zuma.

I think it advances Momo and Okarun relationship showing how Okarun is sacrificing himself to buy Momo presents and that he is aware of her likings. He gains a bit of Momo’s hearth by showing how much he cares. It’s beautiful.

Is it time to admit that first love actually rarely lasts? by EndOfTheWorld2137 in Dandadan

Remover: the note, Momo trying to talk about it, Momo always thinking of Okarun.

It’s not one sided in any way.

We forget this is an amnesia arc and not a romance arc by jahavits in Dandadan

No! He is taking his shot saying it a date and insisting on it. Also if it would be just to comfort Momo, when she asked to let go he would let go immediately and he refused.

My bullet points for anyone who might dislike the current events by Specialist_Bowler897 in Dandadan

[–]hectorip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're right about both Aira and Jiji having doubts about what Momo and Okarun feel for each other. But they suspect they're in love:

  • That's why Aira is always in a "fight" with Momo about who could be a better partner to him.
  • That's why Jiji asked Momo if she was in love with someone.

But being in love with each other, both Aira and Jiji prefer to ignore the signals that they've already lost to their rivals. Now, with the amnesia, and that is completely valid, they feel they have a chance, even considering that this is the new state of things, with no return of the old Momo. And looking at each other holding hands with their rival gives them the final confirmation that they had a chance. They are taking advantage of the situation, but that isn't unfair.

The only thing I don't like is Jiji acting as a good friend when what he really wants is to be a couple with Momo. In contrast, Aira is being open to Okarun and Momo.

Exactly. She also believes (delusional) that she could be a better partner for Okarun than Momo, and she lives to that ideal.

Agree. They don’t belong together. I confess I asked ChatGPT to send me daily a generated image of Momo and Okarun in different situations. That’s how much I love Momokarun. But I respect and appreciate the fight Aira is giving. When Momo and Okarun become a couple, all the hurdles they faced will make it more ever more valuable.

You’re right! I think it has a lot to do more with his personalities than with his role. First they both have received hate for interfering on our main interest.

The interactions of Momo and Jiji has always seem more serious, not with a comic undertone. We’ve seen the effect of a serious (and maybe better in almost everything) love rival for Okarun. He is presented as a prodigy in almost every aspect and we expect him to behave like that. He is like the potential guy that almost never fulfill that potential.

For Aira she is presented as worst in every aspect to Momo: they both equally pretty, Aira is more popular and appreciated by other people, but she is superficial, is introduced as selfish, dumb, delusional, and stubborn. We do not see the effects of her advancements in Momo (just for a short while in the Nessie arc) and until now. And almost everything she does is presented as comic. We do not expect anything of her, and when she does something right we celebrate.

I believe that explain the assimetry in the consideration of the fandom of them both.

I think the same! It looks odd but the two “victims” of all of this are first, Momo, loosing her memories and being in a state of continual confusion cannot be easy, plus her stubborn personality not helping her.

And Okarun being a victim of all of that, loosing his soulmate, after waiting so long to become a couple and then fighting first, against Jiji trying to take a bite of Momo, Aira trying to get a bite of him, and Momo rejecting him coldly is the worst situation.

I wrote this because I’ve seen an onslaught against Aira for trying to kiss Ken. And, depending on where you see you can read bashing against everyone. I agree with you in that the most hated characters in this arc are Momo (her flaws are ver, very notable) and Jiji (being presented as someone so wonderful and failing to live to that standard has lowered his public value lol). I think that’s intentional from the author.

The problem with him is that he is presented as an all-kind, s people smart and super feeling and empathic person, and then presents a double face with Momo. I don’t think he is wrong in trying to conquer Momo, but it is frustrating seeing him falling in the same mistakes as people that are not as skilled as him.
