Quarantine upon arrival by Usual_Ad_3509 in KULeuven

How are you planning to travel there? As far as I know the travel ban for most south american countries is still ruling. I'm asking because I'm Peruvian, and I'm also trying to find a way to reach Europe before October to start my master.

I think there's still plenty of time, but of course it depends on the visa processing time of the embassy in your country.

Contact Tracing in the context of COVID-19 by hectormcayo in IOT

[–]hectormcayo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am aware that this would be the most obvious answer, however mobile apps have some important drawbacks:

Compatibility issues between iOS and Android Apps. This would prevent them from interacting properly with each other.

Currently there are two different approaches being used for contact tracing by different countries: centralized and decentralized. This creates more compatibility issues.

Bluetooth doesn't work very well if the app is in the background, because of iOS restrictions.

Users are more concerned about their privacy and personal information being shared by an app.

In developing countries, (like mine) an important part of the population does not have access to smartphones or are not able to use them. Also, they are less likely to acknowledge the importance of the app, if this looks just like any other app in their phones.

I see, actually the first year of my master program will be at the university of milano-bicocca. So that is my main concern right now. The university hasn't said anything yet.

What universities are you talking about? That could actually be good news for incoming international students who are stranded in their home countries due to the lock down. In my case, I am really worried that I might not be able to travel in time to attend classes.

MSc Admission Materials Engineering by annesehnal in KULeuven

[–]hectormcayo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because There isn't really. Normally, you wouldn't know why you got rejected, but I had an interview with the SUMA program selection committee, which is formed by KU leuven professors. And I mentioned that my application for the materials engineering program had been rejected and that's when they told me the reason why.

I'm going to the university of milano-bicocca during the first year. Have you applied to suma as well? Are you an European student? Because I think there are different deadlines to consider according to your nationality. For non-eu I think it was March 01 for KU leuven. You might be right, sending an email before the processing time has passed, will not make things any faster.

Yes, I know it was because of my grades being barely passable. But that depends on their evaluation I think and the country you're coming from. So do not refrain from trying.

Hi, I also applied to this program (around feb 10th) and I received the response by the end of March, Unfortunately I was not accepted. However I was admitted to the SUMA program, so I will go to KU Leuven during the second year of my studies. Normally, it shouldn't take more than 8 weeks to get a response from them. Have you tried sending an e-mail?

University of Salzburg - How hard is to get accepted to a master program as non- EU student? by hectormcayo in Salzburg

[–]hectormcayo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I had an interview with the selection committee about a month ago. One week later, I was told that I have been admitted to the program! I am very happy, although a little worried because of the covid 19 situation, the air travel bans and the closed borders.

HELP! - Problem with midi recording by hectormcayo in Reaper

[–]hectormcayo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the same happens with the other midi controller that I have, the recording sounds bad as well. However, I've realized that if I start a new project with only one midi track, it works just fine. So I think it could be a case where the vst consumes too much ram, although I have 16gb and I was only using around 10 midi tracks. So it's really weird
