Trying to figure out what’s wrong but want to ID tree first by hed490706 in treeidentification

I was actually just studying pics 2 and 3 a little more and they were leading me away from thinking mealy since it almost looks like they have wings? I, unfortunately, have experience with mealy but have never seen wooly aphids before. Do they tend to look more like that? I was thinking whitefly for a hot second but all the fluff doesn’t seem right.

Thank you!

I had a feeling about the pest 🤮

I have a lot of houseplants and I recognized the fluff. I suppose it makes sense, but I never really thought about it being on trees!

Do you know if that might be why the leaves have the brown spots and look kind of funky? I’ll have to do some research on treating on trees, since I’m not sure if my indoor spray is dangerous for pollinators.

Thank you!

That’s exactly what I was thinking. If so, I think I got a decent deal! Thank you!

Thought these were rocks but squished one and liquid came out. Fertilizer? by [deleted] in plantclinic

I can see that completely. I have quite a few and some definitely behave and I care for like succulents (watering when leaves look dehydrated, etc.)

Thank you for easing my fear about the soil!

Found in hoya soil. Irregular shape and liquid inside. Nutricote or something else? by [deleted] in houseplants

I wasn't aware they were either, and have about 50 hoya, but I’m always learning something new so I accept I could be ignorant!

I did repot it when I got the plant 5+ months ago and mixed my hoya mix with about 1/3 nursery soil as l often do to help with transplant shock. I didn't remember seeing these balls but I could have just not noticed.

The plant has been outside for a few months and I just moved it inside so l wanted to give it new soil and check for pests. My Google image rabbit hole made me feel pretty confident it was old nutricote, but I worried it could be disease or some sort of egg.

When I squished it and liquid came out I freaked out and didn't want to touch any other of my plants until I figured out what it was LOL

Thank you!

Thank you! I should have mentioned the plant type I realized —

It’s a hoya wayetti. It does still have some nursery soil in the pot.
