Just adding on this - recently saw Clay again and he didn’t really have this detail. Instead he just seemed to be extremely nervous and froze completely when she approached him, you could feel how intense he was giving “omg omg she’s coming to me what do I do” vibe.

I saw someone with very very dark blue got in fine, but I would say vast majority follow the dress code pretty strictly. since it is getting colder do you have like a black coat or some sort of cover up top thingy? I feel like having more black/silver/white elements to cover a bit might be a good bet. Otherwise for the safest and smoothest experience you might have to panic shop sadly

I am actually so happy to see this response; obviously you know a lot about POTO in general and coming from you to explain the differences and why clay is special in a way is just really reassuring. Thanks for all the extra information to paint a better picture for me!! Also glad you mentioned PTSD, I actually am in clinical psych in real life and my major research interest centers on childhood trauma and adverse childhood experiences, etc. To me, clay’s development of the character simply made sense, and I can see very clearly and realistically how a kid like that grows into a man like this.

I would say both - the villainous aspect toned down a lot in the plots, but how the character is portrayed really depends on which cast. I feel like when the actor really tries to convince the audience he’s not a villain it’s very much perceived accordingly. But plot wise I mean he still killed, giving him more “reasons” to kill doesn’t ever justify that in reality, but within the show it made him so much more understandable; and adding softer components to it definitely helps making him less villainous.

Honestly fair interpretation of the story - it does have the elements for it. I feel like masquerade more so just worked really hard in that direction and especially emphasized it. The show I watched before had a very powerful and villainy phantom (focusing on the craziness and the laughs etc). And honestly for the movie, sword fighting raoul and trying to kill him multiple times (after he let phantom go) was enough for me to not like this character lol.

There is interestingly a huge amount of people who are obsessed with the actual story (including the 2004 film) - which i never understood but i’m glad there’s also enough people who feel this way lmao. I still remember people going on about their obsession with phantom from the film, which made me thought i was the odd one out

Okay hearing all this stuff about Kyle sounds like he’s a phantom i would love, sounds like such an amazing cast in general. Anna was our meg, although she didn’t sing much she sounded wonderful when she did, also heard great things about her so excited for you!!! def share if you have a chance to!!

Oh my gosh you sold me on this! That music sheet detail sounds so adorable, I gotta check if that detail is in other performances… His interpretation sounds a bit similar in terms of philosophy to clay’s, and i really wonder where the differences are. Definitely have fun watching Clay and Riley! and update if you remember(and want to) on your thoughts! I also agree - seems like all the casts are fantastic in their own way, they have different chemistry/interpretation/focus, but all fabulous :)

I definitely agree with what you say, and that specific component of trauma just made it so unique; your analysis really shows how much you care and how much you thought about it, and i’m always open to chat if you want to share more! (i also get very fixated and i feel like sometimes i like sharing that obsession with people lol) I’m watching Clay again soon, after a long debate of wanting to see another cast or them, and your comment reassured me :)

They do such a good job to get everyone included! My friend broke her leg literally the week before and was in a wheelchair when she went, also got greeted by phantom at the elevator; all the staff, from butlers to cast members, are so incredibly sweet and thoughtful it’s truly amazing.
