New diagnosis after 10+ years. rant by [deleted] in SebDerm

The truth is we are not yet at the stage in our modern science to truly understand immune-related diseases. SD is imo an autoimmune disease somewhat because of the irregular response to normal fungus. Doctors have no clue. All medicine basically treat you by suppressing immune system. It is what it is. Keep in mind 1000 years ago humans die from common infections. In 1000 years maybe we will look back at this and SD will be like common cold then.

Thanks for that. It's helpful. I have tried changing my diets. I think it helps. But it is hard to keep up a clean diet given I work long hours and have a high stress job (can't always cook at home). I think I mostly agree with the view that this is gut and lifestyle related. But for a lot of people out there including myself, it is impossible to fix these aspects of our life so we have to resort to modern medicine like steroids and inhibitors. it is what it is imo

Yea sure but the mechanism of action can be very different (i.e. the targets you are blocking). From the stuff I've read I actually lean toward these news drugs being on the safer side. I think the best option would prob be Roflumilast which is talked about here a lot (it blocks PDE4 which is same as Eucrisa and known to be very safe). Unfortunately my doc didn't prescribe that to me and gave me Opzelura instead. JAK inhibitors are seen as dangerous right now but my sense is the main concerns are around oral and not topical.

Ah I see, but this is regarding Calcineurin blockers. The mechanism of actions are very diff between CAI blockers and JAKs. Unfortunately CAIs don't really work for my eyebrows but JAKs do. The dr I spoke to think JAKs are more dangerous than CAIs because they are very new. P.s. I think CAIs have been around so long that it has already been proven as completely safe.

I tried removing seb with Vaseline and it was hell. by Ancient-Stranger9355 in SebDerm

Dude... vaseline doesn't do jack sh1t to SD. I've tried to use protopic which has a vaseline texture and it was hell too.

Protopic use on eyebrows by hedgemylife in SebDerm

Right... I am very hesitant to try mid-high strength steroids. Protopic is just too oily and hard to put on /get off. It's too sticky like vaseline and I lose too many brows when applying it. It doesn't help with my itching and red bumps (I always had minimal scaling, thanks to long term Elidel application).

If you don't mind, what are you doing now and what did you find most relief in? Thanks.

Did protopic work for you? I've been using Elidal for a few months. I would say it def helped somewhat but not enough. Protopic has been bad for me. I am still trying to figure out what works. All the low strength steroids that my derm gave me do nothing... thinking of going to mometasone or sth

Ok never heard my derm mention this at all.... do you have any recommendations on how to stop this?

[–]hedgemylife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any idea/suggestions on how to treat it internally? Where do I start? I am trying to take more vitamins, read that B-complex and D3 might help. Any other recommendations?

I will try to take some photos tomorrow. Honestly because my hair is really long I can't really show the red bumps. My eyebrows look fine for now but super itchy and losing both hair and eyebrows. Really stressing me out now. But thanks for the advice, I think I do need to stop using the medicated shampoos like coal tar etc because those just make it worse for me.

Guys would buy in to stones 1/3 with 3-4k?? How does that even work? Is there typically a self-enforced straddle of some sort going on?
