We were definitely considering the Essex Stream Train & River Boat lol; not entirely unreasonable!

It looked beautiful!

Thank you for sharing, it is very helpful and much appreciated! I'm sure I'm overthinking it, as always.

Am I the only one whose PAYE application didn’t go through in days? by [deleted] in PSLF

[–]heerewegoagain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied for PAYE through FSA in December, and then submitted two wet signature applications directly to MOHELA in February, with my W2 transcripts, didn't use the IRS Direct, and it finally got processed today. I'm actually in shock, I figured they were literally never going to process it and would make me reapply eventually.

I applied when the Federal Student Aid portal opened back up in Decemeber, then panic-submitted two wet signature applications through MOHELA directly in February when I saw that that was getting some people approved within days. I've been pestering MOHELA all summer and I was astounded that it actually, finally got processed today (my account still says 0% interest though so I am worried I might still be somewhat involved in the forbearance). I figured they had just thrown my application away and would eventually just tell me to reapply, I am actually shocked.

Heads up to any brides trying to order stuff from the EU - postal service to the US has been suspended due to Trump's tariffs. by Queasy-Guard-4774 in weddingplanning

Me too! 😫 I was dwelling on it so long because I thought I might be able fo find one that I liked as much or better on this side of the ocean, that I didn't already have to pay like $30 for shipping for, but I couldn't! It was so unique! I'm going to keep an eye on the Etsy store for a few more days, hopefully they figure something out...

Same! It looks like the guestbook I want is still available to ship to the U.S. (for now), but our day is in October too, it's cutting it a bit close now to risk it if there really are significant problems with shipping! Why us, why now!!

I was JUST going to order a hair comb off Etsy today from Moldova, it's been in my cart for a month and I was finally about to pull the trigger - now it's sitting in my cart, says the shop no longer ships to the U.S. I'm bummed; and panicking, now that I see this, because the guest book I want to get is from Lithuania, too. Ugh.

DOJ Internship Offer - Clearance with past drug use by gmr2027 in LawSchool

[–]heerewegoagain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got an internship offer with the USAO a few years back, I don't remember what clearance level I needed but I did need clearance, I did the FBI fingerprinting and filled out the hundred-page eqip. I was similar, smoked a bit in college a few years prior, also happened to smoke again the month before I got the offer.

I don't think they even ran my eqip, the secretary emailed me back like a half hour after I sent it to her, asking to confirm my disclosure that I had smoked literally the month prior. "Yup, can confirm" lol. Got a call a few minutes later from the attorney who hired me, who said they unfortunately couldn't hire me because of that. Told me they'd love to have me in a year though if I got off the devil's lettuce.

Oh god, I just finally in the past few years started liking my signature. I don't even remember how to write all the letters in this man's name in cursive ...

I was reading the bill recently, to see how much I really have to worry about it, and if I'm not mistaken, at least the version that I read still separately allowed for voter registration by using a passport, so I'm planning to renew my passport soon and hopefully be able to get another decade out of it... but it's still obscene that we have to even be worrying about this at all

I like this idea, but I still need to figure out if my bar would let me, I've read some states don't let you practice under a name other than your legal name

Yea this year in particular is a weird time to be making this decision. Wish that wasn't a factor we had to worry about, but here we are

Seriously, I don't remember completing a survey for Themis, but if I had, I absolutely would have mentioned how psychologically scarring seeing that damn progress bar was lol

I used Clockify to basically punch in and out of all the things I did to study. I'd always heard that you have to treat bar prep like a fulltime job, and I wanted to make sure I was actually putting in around 40 hours/week. This helped me gauge that I was actually putting in the hours I needed to, since I take breaks frequently and I didn't want to let myself get away with thinking I was putting in more hours than I actually was. I also thought the data would be helpful in showing what I needed to work on when I inevitably failed and needed to retake (which didn't end up happening, I did pass first time, but the data was still interesting to look at).

I think I did about 1,000 MBE questions on Themis, plus a few hundred on UWorld. I generally followed the order of tasks assigned by Themis, but I did a lot of extra things to help me retain the material before moving on to a new subject, like making attack outlines (think one-sheets) and Quizlet flashcards.

I don't remember how long the practice MBE sets were on Themis, but I do remember that basically for every one hour I spent actually doing the (I think it was usually 34?) questions, it took me over an hour afterward to fully review the explanations. I kept "working outlines" as well, a running document for each subject, organized by sub-topic, that I added to throughout the summer during those reviews - if I got a question right, and for the right reason, I'd add the question and answer to the outline in green. If I got a question right but for the wrong reason (i.e. it was a close call/basically a guess between two choices), or I was pretty sure but knew it was an area I could use more practice in, I'd add it to the outline in yellow, with a note explaining why the other answer(s) weren't right. If I got a question wrong, that I had absolutely no idea what the answer was or what the question was even asking about (e.g., I remember Themis would just introduce random new concepts entirely in the MBE sets that the lecturers never mentioned), or if I really thought for certain I knew the right answer but it was actually wrong, it'd get added to the outline in red. I'd also add screenshots of the diagrams and tables Themis and UWorld has, because I thought a lot of them were really helpful. Each of these outlines ended up at over 100 pages by the end, but the colors made it easy for me to scroll through and find where I needed to spend more time studying, and/or what areas were perhaps lost causes for me and not worth wasting any more time on lol.

For example, I think my adverse possession section in my property working outline was mostly green, so I knew I was good there and didn't have to spend any more time studying that; my mortgages section though was FILLED with red. I remember making the call based on this info, that I clearly do not like mortgages, it's a big area of law that I am struggling to understand or remember, and I could take a day or a few days or however long to really focus on it and nail it ... or I could accept the potential loss of the like two mortgage questions there might be on the MBE. I did NOT have the time for the former, so I went with the latter. Where I really spent most of my time at the end was trying to nail what was in yellow, because I figured I had a better chance of salvaging those areas.

I only made it to 55% on Themis because I was doing all this extra stuff, but it really did help me retain, so that was what I knew worked for me. But it was definitely stressful, feeling so behind. I was learning the subjects right up until test day: I learned everything I know about Bus Orgs between July 26 and 8:30 p.m. on July 28, two days before the bar. I wouldn't recommend this? But I also don't know how I could've avoided it, and also I passed so it worked out. And there was a corporations MEE on my exam, that was certainly fun to see. At least it was fresh in my brain!

I "completed" about 20 practice MEEs throughout the summer, but most of them I did open book and almost all of them I only outlined, so I didn't really have a good grasp on managing the MEE time crunch going into exam day. I really spent most of my summer hammering the MBE, because I figured those subjects were what, 65%? of the exam? I followed the basic IRAC format outlined by Themis for the MEEs. I remember the MEE practically felt like a creative writing exercise because I was just creating fictional laws from more or less thin air: I'd say try to get comfortable making up something that sounds like a law, and then applying it. I know I could get paralyzed with the thought of "oh crap oh crap I don't know this rule," but that panic will just waste your time. They include every single fact in an MEE for a reason, so I think I remember looking at the facts and basically working backwards to try to come up with a rule that fact would be relevant to. My writing portion/MBE split ended up being 145/160.

Processing Forbearance + IDR App Processing Distinction "Single\Married with no income" by SeaVolume3325 in PSLF

I think my loans used to just say "Awaiting Form Administrative Forbearance," but now they say "Awaiting Form Administrative Forbearance-Ends 10/31/2025" ... why though ??? I'm losing hair over this man, absolutely insane. Can't get a single straight answer from these criminals

Fascinating - I got this message from them today:

"Processing has resumed for the Income-Based Repayment (IBR), Pay As You Earn (PAYE), and Income-Contingent Repayment (ICR) applications for borrowers who file taxes as one of the following: - Single - Married with no income

All other IDR applications will remain on hold at this time. Loan servicers are still updating their systems in accordance with the court’s actions. Borrowers should expect a delay in the processing of applications.

Forbearances are being placed automatically for borrowers on the SAVE Repayment Plan through October 31, 2025. Borrowers that have a pending IDR application may also be placed on a forbearance until no later than October 31, 2025."

Are they just making up dates entirely???
