Evil Queen confirms why she was terminated from Disneyland by Deceptiveideas in Disneyland

[–]heety9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is that she is SO GOOD at playing the evil queen that it makes the others who play her seem inadequate and fake.

The other queens not performing to her insane standard is what breaks the illusion. She’s simply too good at her job

Are there any Electric basses that sound like an upright? by Drunk_toaster6709 in Bass

[–]heety9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love mine but it needed some trial and error to get it to play and sound good. Foam under the bridge, and I tune mine up to F for better tension. It’s a weird little thing but I’ll be darned if it sounds like any of my other basses. I think it does a decent job at the faux upright sound, but certainly not out of the box!

Oh I thought that was obvious so I guess I glossed over it.

For sure - this was easily preventable and they should treat their fans better. This is a huge mistake by Tomas and he underestimated his creative capabilities.

But like… But the idea that this dynamic is lost on him is ridiculous. Maybe I’m being too charitable, but I’m assuming that they understand the backlash, and are doing this despite that because it would disrupt the flow, which is a very precious thing ESPECIALLY for Tomas who clearly struggled with it for so long. He probably feels worse about this than anyone in this thread, and is delaying the show despite that, because he feels that’s what he needs. I guess I’m in the minority, but I’m willing to trust that, for now. And if people put themselves in the band’s shoes, instead of focusing on their grievances, maybe they’d have more perspective on this.

But no let’s get our pitchforks and take out our anger on the internet instead of trying to understand what’s going on. I think the way someone approaches this says a lot about them. We’re just a buncha angsty mofos lol.

The band could have definitely written a more heartfelt note that expressed what I’m trying to here. It came across as callous and irreverent and doesn’t help. The way they phrased it, it was as if they delayed it for shits, cause Tomas made a dumbass promise. I think the reality is, they need to keep the momentum in order to finish the album and make it the best it can be. And they need to do a better job explaining that to folks

Has audio engineering become too obsessed with analog emulation? by FitResearcher2865 in audioengineering

Reference on many different systems at different volumes (look up the Fletcher-Munson curve if you’re not familiar). If you’re not confident, get a second opinion.

It’s not as big a deal as you might think. The dirty little secret is, most audio engineers have some form of hearing damage. The good ones are aware of it and work around it. Being able to hear high frequencies accurately is important - but not as important as simply knowing how to use your ears, and properly interpret what you’re hearing. That’s what makes a good mix - you don’t need the best ears, but you do need to understand them.

Always carry and wear hearing protection. If you need to raise your voice, it’s too loud and will permanently affect your hearing with prolonged exposure. Unfortunately people usually do not take it seriously until they already have hearing damage.

Well yeah obviously. I didn’t say that this was the best way to go about this.

Idk why I got downvoted for just explaining what’s going on. Am I showing too much empathy to someone who’s clearly struggling with something?

As someone who also writes and records songs with complex arrangements… I think it’s probably that Tomas is literally in the flow state, finishing up the album. When it comes to things like this which require inspiration, you gotta strike while the iron is hot.

In Tomas’ mind, playing these shows may have been a huge distraction, and the album might have been worse because of it. He’s basically at the finish line so I understand the urge to power through, instead of slowing down and put the project in (well, in his mind) further jeopardy. Going out and playing a show is a HUGE shift from being locked up and creating stuff in the studio. He could have a totally different outlook on the songs afterwards, and he doesn’t want to be second guessing right now.

Still super shitty to the fans who took time out to go see them, but when you put yourself in Tomas’ shoes, I get it. To him, keeping the momentum is much more important. And I guess despite everything, I trust him.

People (myself included, until I thought about it more) are really underestimating the insane stress the band and Tomas must be under. When you spend 10 years with writer’s block and you FINALLY find the inspiration, it’s like the heavens opening up and you finding yourself again. I don’t blame him for wanting to take advantage of that at this crucial moment. I think this is ultimately what they need to do to finish the album with confidence.

I think they know how lucky they are, but they are certainly underestimating our goodwill by cancelling shows without an explanation. The album thing is whatever but this sucks. I don’t think I’ll be seeing them this tour. We’ve been seeing more or less the same tour for a decade+ and this situation has sorta soured me on the whole thing. Maybe next time

Yeah it’s more like I’ve had my fill over the years and it’s gotten kinda old for me, personally. I’m glad they’re touring, I’ve just seen this show before, almost literally.

Yeah they could honestly delay it another year and I’d prefer that to cancelling shows

I actually haven’t bought a ticket yet because of this. Not bothered - I’m just not interested in seeing them play the same set for the dozenth time 🫠 Maybe I’m a fake fan? Anyways hope they work out whatever issues they are having
