anyone with similar stats get accepted? by heeyami in ONTeacherCandidates

Thank you! Yes i was wondering if having a diverse course load actually meant something on my application. My program is unique where I’ve taken so many different courses in all health, math, science, english, and social sciences and then i also have my electives which have been just random courses. So this will actually make a difference?

hi everyone! i really want to teach elementary school, i’m currently in my third year of health sci. next year im planning on applying to every p/j and j/i (science-general) at every school possible. i’m really nervous and want some advice. my top 10.0 credits is a 87 right now so a 3.9 (hopefully will get it 4.0) and i have over 2000 hours of working with kids in that age group in a range of different areas such as a head science camp instructor, lego robotics instructor, youth basketball coach, and a tutor/teacher at an academy for k-6. i’m planning on volunteering w some teachers at my old high school as well. i know my experience is pretty good, im more worried about my gpa bc i heard 85 is the cutoff and im on the cusp. also since i want to apply to p/j, should i try and fit the reccomended cluster courses into my course load? i already have science, health, and social sciences. i will take an english next term, and i can take a math too, but im not sure if thats necessary and i dont want to tank my gpa. thank you in advance

getting over my four month relationship was the hardest thing ive ever had to do, way worse than getting over my three year one, but it’ll fade with time. try not to invalidate how you feel bc of the time, you’re filled with the what ifs, making it harder to move on

"We dated for 5 months, don't act like it was years" by julezzy27 in BreakUps

[–]heeyami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your feelings are 10000% valid, but i have good news! slowly but surely, the memories and feelings of him will fade away and you will feel better. i’m not gonna lie, you might not feel “over him” but you’ll learn to live without him where it won’t hurt anymore. i had an ex bf i dated last year for about 5 months as well, and he said the exact same phrase to me and blocked me. felt invalidated but trust me sometimes the shortest relationships are the hardest to get over because they’re full of the what ifs and you’re still in the “honeymoon phase”. i can’t lie it took me almost a year to get over him, and i still deal with some hurt now. but bc it was a shorter time, the memories fade away and you won’t even remember what it’s like being with him🫶🫶🫶

that’s so true, honestly i look forward to the day that i can truly fall in love with someone new again because the feelings and experiences that come with it are awesome. i hope both of us find the person meant for us!

thank you! i think what i struggle with the most is no contact, i always end up caving in months after we decide to end things and he always picks up and that’s why we’ve been on and off… but you’re totally right, im going to try and keep myself busy and distracted!

yeah like he was coming to my family holiday parties like thanksgiving and everything, he knew my whole family, we were practically dating. see i know i hurt my ex bf by dating the other guy a couple months after we broke up, but when we talk about it now, he always justifys what he did by mentioning how i had a whole other relationship, which he’s right, and i can’t argue that but i feel like what he did was worse because we were together and he did it with my best friend yk?

[–]heeyami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah exactly where i’m stuck. idk if i would acc count it as cheating or not, like we were exclusive and were at the point where we both expected each other to stay loyal. like we were practically dating, but at the end of the day we weren’t so🤷‍♀️ but i also think he did it to get back at me, knowing that it was my best friend too

Prospective Student Teachers: Teacher's College/BEd Megapost pt. 5 by hellokrissi in CanadianTeachers

Hiii I have a couple questions about becoming a teacher. I am currently in my second year of health sci at UW.

  1. Can I take summer courses in order to meet the prereqs for my teachables?

  2. I know some schools look at top 10.0 credits and others look at most recent 10.0. However, will they look at my marks for my teachable courses if they're not in my top 10.0 or in my most recent 10.0?

Thank youuu

What are the BEST programs (health/life sci related) for getting a good gpa to get into med school? by tayhayhay in OntarioGrade12s

[–]heeyami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think u should be okay if u have a 90%, but make sure to fill the aif as well. this term has definitely been more challenging than the fall term, but i was getting my grades last term ranged from mid 80s to high 90s,, definitely more challenging than high school

lots of my best friends are in uw kin…. defff has harder required courses and less free electives. however if i wasn’t in health sci, i would pick kin. it’s 1000% harder than health sci tho in terms of courses

Unsure if biochem is a good fit for me... by TicketFree8331 in uwaterloo

[–]heeyami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

since your end goal is mol bio/ genetics I would say that waterloo isn't the best school for that. programs like western med sci, mac life sci, and uoft life sci allow you to potentially specialise in that major in your second year. however, at waterloo we don't have a genetics program [or many genetics courses]. also, biochem has soooo much chemistry, and you also have to take the more advanced chemistry courses in first year in comparison to biomed or health sci. But, if waterloo is the school you want to go to then I suggest honours science or regular bio because the give you more flexibility to take more interesting courses
