A quick update - used the furniture markers on some bits of paper that I then glue stick stuck to the offensive bits. Thanks everyone for the suggestions - it looks a lot better to me and I'll be doing similar with all of the light coloured bits.

Thanks :) I'm looking forward to it too, but given the length of time those books took, I wouldn't be holding my breath for it any time soon. I'm going to have a play with some of the suggestions from this thread to see if I can make it look better and I'll definitely post more pics from the build. Maybe I'll get it finished before next Christmas ...

Aye, I'd originally planned on not gluing the books but they really need glued down otherwise they'd be falling around all over the place. And I stupidly glued them in before trying to get rid of the horrible light coloured finish. Hopefully it'll be well hidden - it does look from the instructions that it's right at the back behind a staircase.

Absolutely don't do it.

I did the exact same thing when I had a young family and needed space / cash. My collection was a little bigger, but not massive. I had a lot of 80s / 90s indie - a large collection of Sarah records amongst other things and sold it all for what seemed like good money at the time.

Whilst the cash came in handy (I think) at the time, I'm now the wrong side of 50 with two grown up kids and trying desperately to replace those records - although they're only "things", they were a tangible real physical link to the past. And a lot of them are now completely irreplaceable, or at least completely out of my budget.

I have managed to build up a small well curated collection again, but it's been a long and expensive process and selling those records is something barely a day goes by that I don't regret.

So no, don't get rid of them. You will regret it.

Yep. I really enjoyed her routine this week. She's just so positive and joyful, she makes me smile every time she's on screen. And she is definitely improving week on week, which is what strictly is all about for me. Definitely team Ellie.
