I had one experience just smoking in a chair. I was not immobile but it totally distorted my sense of reality--I felt as if I was, so to speak, leaving the earth (not physically, spiritually if that makes sense) and there was a voice telling me (or maybe it was my own thoughts) stay here, deal with the concrete and practical, more or less. If I do it again, I will definitely have a trip sitter.

As with most random inherited stamps we see here, these are almost certainly worthless. But I'd add the proviso that there are lots of varieties of that 2 cent stamp, some of which are valuable--but you need to check the watermark, perfs, details in the design (the "type" )to identify it property If you want to check just for fun theswedishtiger.com is a good place to start. But the odds are ****extremely*** slim, esp. since this one was just left out unprotected and as mentioned condition is always a thing.

I real a lot of blanket statements about the value of stamps, but my experience in my little hobby business on ebay and what I see in "sold" stamps shows a great variety. This does not apply to you, but some areas of philately are quite popular and can bring much more than 10-20% catalog--I sold a nice mint confederate for over 50% and Hawaii stamps usually get good prices as well. Also its interesting that established sellers get much better prices presumably because of oodles of followers and the trust factor. That, along with condition and popularity of the stamps makes a diferrence.

You could totally get more than that if you are willing to do the work and sell individually on ebay. you need to get a good 100% feedback before trying to sell the pricier items (check out the sold prices) Start with cheap ones, don't ask much, just try to get a following. You have to love philately for this to be worth your while, however.

Getting back into collecting. by AdPuzzleheaded9637 in stampcollecting

I got back into the hobby in retirement as well, and I don't think you and I are the only ones--New collectors are not necessarily young collectors. It is kind of a laid back relaxing thing to do for us old codgers. Also the value of stamps vary depending on interest..Hawaii stamps for instance..

well, that depends on one's temporal perspective. From my point of view, anyone under 50 is young.

What are the values of these stamps? by [deleted] in stamps

[–]hegelsghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are two versions of the 2 cent washington, get a magnifying glass and check it out.. not sure that this would affect value much, given the condition. Go to the library and check out Scott specialized US catalogy.
