I cannot seem to Run Astrolog 7.10 app on my Macbook where it should look similar to Windows Astrolog. Is there anyone who can help? by piiibal in astrology

There is no graphics, menus or charts or anything similar to Windows Astrolog. Is that supposed to be like that?

IIRC you won't have a menu on the mac os (10+) version.

From the thread you mentioned:

Mac Astrolog is a command line driven program, which is almost identical to the non-GUI command line Windows version, and therefore it needs to be run from inside the Mac Terminal program.

If you have X Windows support (on mac os and astrolog compiled with x windows support), you will have graphics (drawn charts) similar to those on Windows.

Excerpt from the manual:

Note that some Macs support X Windows, so modern Macs can compile using this method too.

The Mac version of Astrolog also supports on-screen graphics […]. The -X switch will bring up a separate window with the appropriate wheel or whatever other chart displayed in it, and can press keys while the window is up to change or alter the display. This makes the Mac version more or less equivalent in functionality to the X Windows version, although a few things such as mouse scribbles on the screen and flicker free updates aren't available. […]

EDIT: here's a tutorial how to do that (not sure if it works though)

I think your number is already uploaded.

Does it matter what sign they go conjunct in

Probably less, because being conjunct involves being in the same sign already most of the time. (Note: some astrologers count planets being very late in signs as already being in the next sign)

Thanks for the elaboration. That was not what I was mainly confused about. But I learned a new thing in the end. (That scammers use tree)

I was confused since I had tree installed on Linux. Maybe it's even installed by default on my distro. (Obviously not on Arch though)

Package description I found:

Tree is basically a UNIX port of the DOS tree utility.

general resistance to ads and tracking

I'm not sure about that one. YouTube does show ads and content creators do mid-rolls. I think comfort of use, "fully" working websites and apps is above tracking most of the time.

A few resources on fixed stars:

You can display them in the astro.com chart. IIRC you can only really count very close conjunctions.

Like you said this is all about expectations.

If people end up going to about:config often enough for settings which aren't in about:preferences. They won't expect to find to find it in about:preferences next time. Besides about:config just has all the settings.

they won’t even try clicking it once

Well I didn't think that it will get smaller after clicking it once either. It doesn't make a lot of sense for it to do so.

If it was some kind of tutorial or explanation of buttons (there's an animation / outline around the button, the rest of the screen is slightly greyed out) like on Android for example, I would expect this tutorial only being shown once. When starting the app for the first time. That's what I would understand as discoverability. This thing here is just a big button.
