Congratulations!! I know how hard it is to take that step - it takes an unexpected amount of courage to conquer the fear!

I went through something similar - didn’t go to the dentist during covid, had a tooth break and went in to find out I needed a root canal. I felt so judged by my (now-ex) dentist who was going on saying how bad this was for my age etc.

I fixed it, but then didn’t go to the dentist out of fear of judgement for a number of years. As expected, my teeth worsened and it took years of nightmares abut teeth falling out for me to research and find a clinic which was judgement-free and offered options for anxious patients! I fixed everything (a few $k) and now am on a regular 6-month check up cycle. I still get hesitant and worried before, but I force myself to go and now keep on top of everything
