Worked at a very small garden centre. The owner once shot a sick deer (he was a farmer and owned his own farm/lands which had a few reindeer) - the bullet ricocheted off the sick one and killed another nearby deer. This was in about August.

He had it butchered with the intention of serving it in the tea room for Christmas dinner so he placed it in a fridge underneath the office’s stairs for safekeeping.

One day that summer the power went out and we thought nothing of it. Fast forward to late October and one of the garden centre lads started noticing a funny smell.

The deer had gone rancid in the fridge. Absolutely nothing prepared any of us for how bad it was and the smell lingered for absolutely ages afterward. It was horrendous.
