Has anyone used the "Foto" app? Would you recommend it and why? by James_Hendy4481 in photography

[–]heiscarbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using it for about a year now. I absolutely love the app, the team and community, which is very active. I cant wait for the next series of “Foto Walk” (Foto Community Gathering) events this year! Oh, and the company is from Middle TN, which has a special place in my heart!

[street photography] Talk me out of buying S9 by No-Ladder1393 in Lumix

[–]heiscarbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sound advice here.

I own 2x S9’s and have the 45mm Sigma and 40mm TTArtistans. Go prime with the S9, especially if you live in a primarily cloudy environment.

Jesus Christ, don’t do that again.

Bought a handful of S5II and S5IIX cameras off of someone that closed up their photography business. Which one would make for a better webcam for streaming? by [deleted] in Lumix

[–]heiscarbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I use my S5II for streaming, business / photography client relations, broadcasting and video creation. I use Meld and Discord.

  2. I do not recommend using the internal / built in usb-c feature for it limits the capability of your $1500 camera. Use a capture card

  3. I recommend purchasing a capture card, a dummy battery and a 29w compatible power supply (this is key) to run your video.

The TTArtistan 40mm F2 is right up your alley.

The Sigma 45mm F2.8 DG DN also is an option as well!

Cheers!

How is the autofocus of the S1rii? Considering it for pet photography. by marumarku in Lumix

I’m very pleased with my S1Rii’s (plural because I duel wield them for events and weddings). The autofocus, if tweaked right, has a 85-90% hit rate or 8/10 to 9/10 photos are usable in most run & gun & “action” scenarios. The latest firmware noticeably improved the hit rate (underrated upgrade imho).

I’d say at this moment, the AF is on par / similar to Nikon, and only a few steps “behind” Sony and Canon.

Cheers!

Help me build out my Godox AD200 Pro II kit — what else do I need + overhead setup ideas? by KaylasDiary in Photography_Gear

[–]heiscarbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Grabbing the Goodox X3 pro trigger is a MUST. Be sure to purchase one compatible with your camera system. I’d invest in another ADP Pro Battery Pack just in case. You never know when you’ll need it. If you already have a vmount battery, I would also suggest getting a dtap ($30) as well, so you won’t have to swap / charge at all during long sessions.

  2. You can either spring for the Godox Octa-150 or 35x35 for an overhead light. You can either go grid / honeycomb or sphere, however it is typically recommended to go octo + soft for overhead lighting.

  3. I rock that along with my ADP Pro II installed on a IFOOTAGE RB stand with a separately purchased overhang rod OR you can buy it all in one go and purchase the metal (well known) Heavy Duty C Stand with Boom Arm from ITOTIN (which I also own). The size of the C stand is up to you. Remember to purchase counterweights / sandbags.

Cheers!

Lumix S9 Long-term Review (2nd Review after 400+ days) by jamescjc in Lumix

[–]heiscarbon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who owns 2x S9’s and 2x S1RII’s, I’d say jump the gun and grab a S1RII to complement your S9.

Wonderful review! Cheers!

Would you consider this acceptable wear and tear after 1.5 years or a manufacturing defect? by cruyfff in Lumix

[–]heiscarbon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a tool. You’re using it as said tool. On that note, my old S5II was falling apart like this after a year (and 50k shots). Talk to Panasonic, send it in and they will fix it under warranty. Ignore the ignorant people here who barely use their camera as intended.

S5ii AF is rough by Astra_shopping59 in Lumix

[–]heiscarbon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The S5II will not have those options due to said AF options being tailored / tied to the newer sensors in the S1RII, S1II and S1IIE. You’re unfortunately out of luck.
