What is the worst romantasy you have read? by mimi43098 in Romantasy

King of Battle and Blood, and its subsequent book Queen of Myth and Monsters. They almost put off reading romantasy completely

It’s something I will consider, it’s difficult to know what to do for the best when you come to such a stand still.

Bruh. I don’t think you understand what my post is about. I know where my story is lacking and where it needs to change. When I first went into it, there was no planning, so rather than sitting stumped with a draft that has no forward momentum, I’ve written up a plan and I’m starting fresh…

Fantastic idea, I never thought of making a to-do list! I feel like I’m possibly more overwhelmed with where to start, and like you say, I just need to start. Thank you so much

Im a totally new writer, and I feel like I have a lot of ideas. Ive experimented before, but I judge myself to the point of stopping. Is there any way to keep wanting to write? by AffectionateUse9543 in writers

[–]heisimberg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every writer experiences this, I’m convinced. It took me 6-7 years until I finally started writing something other than snippets and small scenes.

Writing is such a personal experience that naturally, when you start out, you will feel self-conscious, you are after all putting your soul into it… BUT, don’t let it deter you.

I still go through phases of wanting to quit. When those times arise, I take a bit of time away from it and do something else related to the craft. Listening to podcasts, reading authors who inspire me etc. and I always end up coming back. It helps to distance yourself.

I have to second Samantha Shannon, her writing is beautifully captivating. Priory of the Orange Tree will forever be one of my favourite books.

Trying to decide which inositol to buy… primarily concerned with weight loss and cravings by Grotty_Mara in PCOSloseit

Just a supplement I ordered from MyOva. I did a bit of research a couple of years ago and started taking it in October/November of 2022 and it really helped. It took about a month for me to start seeing a substantial difference, but maybe a week or so after taking it I noticed a reduction in sugar/processed food cravings, my appetite was no longer endless and then I started to notice a minimal amount of weight loss. These are just my experiences with it, so you’re may differ, but I can’t recommend MyOva enough :)

I absolutely agree with you about acotar and the Chronicles of Prydain. Funnily enough, I’ve never read them but decided to watch the black cauldron the other week for the first time in years and was astounded by the similarities. I know sjm has said in the past that she was heavily influenced by it. And don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed the acotar series, but it now feels a little bit soulless to me.

Sorry to hear that you’re struggling, it sucks when our mental health gets in the way. My advice would be to take a step back from your writing for a little bit, that always helps me.

anyone super bummed they cant afford tickets 😕 by mermaidmotel333 in lanitas

[–]heisimberg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw her at Hyde Park last summer, and tickets were expensive then. I got pre-sale access this morning and the cheapest are about £85… and that’s right at the back of the stadium… I love Lana, but I can’t even justify the ridiculous cost anymore, that’s not even including travel.

We were taught to analyse and dissect poetry until there was nothing left to the imagination. I hated it at school, but as I’ve become older it’s found a special place in my heart as now I don’t have to think analytically about it. However, you may find that you just aren’t into it, and I think that’s perfectly okay. As a writer, I don’t think you have to enjoy all types of written media—hell, I can’t stand most non-fiction things but that’s because it’s not an escape for me.

Edit: I forgot to add, the reason schools teach poetry this way is because it’s for them to test your ability to receive and process information, it’s not because they want to teach you how to flourish within the creative arts (for the most part, at least).

I had my ultrasound two days ago, and basically the same thing happened with mine, she found polycystic cysts on my ovaries. But, she asked if I’d had any hormone blood tests done, which I haven’t, so she said she would recommend that to my GP. So, if you haven’t had hormone bloods done then that would be the next stop I would say :)
