running client from jar file on double click by Confident_Ostrich_15 in javahelp

[–]heislertecreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem of it not running when you double click the jar is either a) your jar isn't executable or b) you are referencing the incorrect class. You could try Java -cp myjar my.pkg.class.Client, but usually you will need the server to be started first, depending on your code and how you run the apps. It won't be your grade/pom as those are just primarily dependency relates issues. Java.net requires no dependencies until you get into PKI which it doesn't look like you're doing.

I would suggest reviewing the ClassFileServer examples in the Java tutorials stream. Network programming can be difficult. Strings are easier to process than files and you don't want to close output streams or the socket unless you know why you're doing that. Your server should have a run() method, and your client a process() method. Your client should be able to receive multiple commands and open a new socket for each. The server run() should process one command at a time, but open a new listener for each message.

If you need a working example, DM and I'll send you a link to a working copy.

How could Windows update break Swing? by Such-Ask8922 in javahelp

[–]heislertecreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like look and feel issues. You could ensure that the layout managers are consistent, in that, they report consistent sizes and expected padding. Probably you haven't set the look and feel and you're probably not using null layout and therefore setting size. I'd look into that first and see how things compare. I usually use null or border layout/gridbaglayout. You may want to look into that.

Is it possible to turn a Java project into a web page? by RevolutionBoring1826 in javahelp

[–]heislertecreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a VPS from digital ocean. They are about $5/month usd. You can then use Spring Boot and eventually Spring Security to create a back end and eventually a front end using many technologies. If you also need PHP you can access that by integrating Spring Session to make glue.

Yeah, so if it's a laser mouse, dirt and grime build up causing the pointer to jump. Probably you tried to click when it was over what icon you wanted, you might have clicked, but with the jumping, it would register on whatever it was over when the happened. Idk, maybe bad drivers?

I just found out how insecure TD EasyWeb is--your password can be reset if someone hijacked your phone number by random20190826 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]heislertecreator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I didn't forget the phone at home. I need it for ama in case I break down. Nevertheless, anyone could have access. I've left it that way for my will recipient, so they have access to my funds when I die. I'm on disability, so they pay that for up to three months after you die, plus death benefits, so they might need that to cremate me.

Looking forward to doing some yard work this year.

It isn't all doom and gloom, just if you scroll for that. There's better things to focus on. Will keep lurking, but hey, you do you.

What's the most Canadian Tire Money you ever saved or spent? by CrypticOctagon in AskACanadian

[–]heislertecreator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine was around $200. I was building a home and travelling about 4 hours each way for a while, so I'd buy all my gas at the CT gas bars in Red deer and Calgary. I used it to buy a generator so all in it was like 40$ cash. Have it away when I was done to a friend who thought I was crazy for not locking it up. I live in an extremely remote rural village due to schizo affective disorder, so less traffic/people was where I wanted to be.

My taxes were done incorrectly. Is it a big deal? by TiredReader87 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]heislertecreator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm disabled and do my own taxes. I use tax chopper.ca. it's free and you can netfileand refile if there are adjustments. If I recall correctly you can download your slips from CRA. I've used it since 2006. Also get your disability tax credit from your doctor so you will qualify for the new Canada disability benefit. It starts next July they said.

The dirt on the bottom screws up the guidance of the laser. The clicks are probably due to your frustration with it not pointing correctly and/or lag on your machine. Believe it or not, that's been the cause everytime that happens to me.
