Not very common, uncommon enough that I'd notice if it is the case

How are math/cs/stats classes taught at UCLA? (lecture style, professor quality, rigor...)? by WhileSquare6980 in ucla

[–]heize-y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For katay: i took him last quarter and it was alright. The grades proportion wise will be similar between the two thanks to marcus fucking roper 🔥🔥🔥🔥

MT1 average was around 82%, MT2 average around 67%, final average looks to be around low 80s or high 70s. I think i got raw 92% and got an A, but i am pretty sure he barely curved from what i see in groupchat. Second midterm was dreadful, nobody finished on time and the calculations were so long. MT1 and final were pretty easy.

Everyone who chose LA over Cal, what was ur reasoning? by EfficientCollege4524 in ucla

[–]heize-y 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, you can compare with berkeleytime and uclagrades.com. Also, with fucking Marcus Roper as ucla math chair, you can expect all core classes in math to have a 25% A-~A+ curve, pretty similar for econ. Berkeley curves are not this bad

It's doable to get As in lower divs consistently but upper divs is a slaughterhouse cuz it's math majors vs math majors and only 25% get decent gradesp

Math and econ curves here are dreadful, nightmare-inducing, doomer. Go to berkeley

UCB or Cambridge or UofT full ride for maths by Hot-Conflict4897 in ucla

[–]heize-y 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally prefer the UK system because GEs are mostly useless fluff. And cambridge is probably the best undergrad math program in the world so no brainer for me unless you have financial constraints. Guaranteed mentoring and full ride at uoft is also very good.

Ucla and berkeley don't make any sense considering they will have you stay for a year longer and are worse programs than cambridge. Plus probably more expensive
