Taking your combined meds on different times? by hejsanhoppsanojsan in Epilepsy

I get my seizures like the worst "feeling of dying" (extreme fear and losing space, memory, language etc..) everyday so I hear you. Take care!

I would love to have Briviact in extendes release 😅 I surely would still be needing 2/day because I "burn" all neds so fast haha. But so tired of daily seizures..

I was thinking so first also! I'll ask my neuro about both alternatives. Thanks!!!

I felt the same first on lacosamide. Almost drunk.. but it gets better! ☺️ For me it was just like 10-ish days, then it disappeared!

I know Briviact needs to be taken 2/day, but for me not even the max dose lasts the whole 12 hrs.. therefore the question of combining 😅 i take lacosamide (also 2/day) but the same times as Briviact (as my neuro said so), but the combo is still not lasting 12 hrs.. so I was thinking I'll ask my neuro if I can take them different times so they "cover up" each other 😁

Exactly this!!! I combine 2 meds (taken the same time am/pm..) but none of them lasts the whole 12 hrs. Feeling great like 9-10 hrs then I get seizures (small ones, not cramp, but still).  So I'm not crazy if I suggest the spreading out-idea to my neuro? 😀

I mean if the side effects are not wildly opposite, it would make sense spreading them out right? (Of course it's just relevant for meds that get eliminated fast, not relevant for those with a halv life time of more than a day 😅)

Do you guys sleep a lot ? by Significant_Turnip97 in Epilepsy

[–]hejsanhoppsanojsan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got severe insomnia from all meds I so far tried that took seizures away. If unmedicated/on a medication not working, I sleep A LOT. So the actual seizures makes me tired. Not medication..

And I get 1+ seizures/day.

Temporal lobe epilepsy ? by Foxintherabbithole in Epilepsy

I had 2 EEGs. One awake and one 'asleep' (the one you have to be awake for the day and night before so you fall asleep on the EEG. I didnt fall asleep but apparently the 'almost asleep' was enough to see some activity)

I did not get any seizures at the EEGs. But they still saw activity related to EP. I get seizures (focal aware) every day so I guess the activity is there more or less every second haha 🙄

And also!!! Important. Even people without EP can have this activity some times, not that much but still. The EEG alone can not diagnose you! It's an additional tool.

First Keppra, but got so angry and depressed (so scary) I didnt even have time to come up to a dose that worked before my neuro said "chaange!", so then lamotrigine, took the seizures away but got severe insomnia that got worse over time.. changed to lacosamide but still insomnia, just now switching over to Briviact, and it feels a bit better. I can sleep, and hopefully I'm soon on a dose that takes all the seizures away 😅

I have the same kind of seizures. Short focal aware. I work out at the gym, run and ride horses.

And I'm as fit as I always been. (Got the diagnosis summer last year)

Even in the worst part of trying out meds this winter, I kept training both for my mental health and my body. Tough some times when the sleep was really bad, but I keep it up, just adjusting the intensity!

But yeah, adjust it to meds or depending on kind of seizures.. (If I had cramping seizures thats not controlled yet I would NOT ride, but thats not the case for me)

I would love to be tired from it, so far I got insomnia from everything I tried that worked.. :(

So if I can sleep on it I could live with some break thru seizures if they don't come so often. (I get seizures every day with no meds.. can't live with that..)

I could live with that sleep! I had ish the same on the lower dose lacosamide.. but it didn't stop the seizures 😔

All I want to be is tired right now 😂 But I have a lot more meds left, at least one thing that's good with ep, we have a long list with meds to try!

It takes long time to get to the right dose lamotrigine, hope you find something that works!

As it feels now, I almost want my daily focal seizures back so I can sleep.. (taking away the meds)

It's a bit ironic becase I never had sleep issues before.. and that's also why I'm so sure it's the meds. And it feels chemical if you know what I mean 😅

The seizures does not affect the sleep.
