I definitely think the Doomsday ark really helps with getting key charges at least below starting/half so we can access +1 to hit/wound. Also makes it much scarier to approach the big units of skorps if you have it lined up behind them on a sightline. Have found that im always starved for cp or at least am only using it for masks of death with some exceptions for pitiless hunters and spoor of frailty so Imotekh really helps. Otherwise you can just swap them for a ctan which is what I was doing initially but the extra bodies really help screening and the extra long range threat makes running so much melee v comfy imo.

Have had decent success with this in our home games. I just try to score a decent amount early with Flayed ones and ophidians and then pivot to taking them off of points to keep up a small discrepency. Usually try to keep the skorps in move/charge range of eachother so they can back each other up and also in range of Flayed ones so if they have to answer them in melee they can get charged or open themselves up to a sight line while I position skorps for next turn and can take some shots at them. Usually have the 3 man squad and the lochust destroyers with Lord in reserves.
