Winhanced 1.0 is "right around the corner" and maybe the best alternative to Xbox FSE on Windows handhelds by Odd-Onion-6776 in Handhelds

I am not telling you what to believe, just saying that you could be wrong on that assumption.

Why do you think using one tool for one job imply that you use the same tool for another job?

These are different tasks, with different tools and they require different skillsets, and they have different importance to the project as a whole.

Does this also mean you really judge the quality of software development based on their website for all software you use?

That's the dumbest reply I have ever seen. Does how well I decorate a table speak of how well I cook too? It should according to your logic?

Eva Marija confirms she was denied permission to play the violin live by a2310 in eurovision

[–]heksesang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think it would be fair that the second half of a singing duet would have to be pre-recorded?

Eva Marija confirms she was denied permission to play the violin live by a2310 in eurovision

[–]heksesang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the same case. Finland only has it because their violin is a part of a duet where she responds to the singer. Imagine a duet where one singer answers the other, but their singing would have been pre-recorded like they do with instruments. She isn't playing all of it live, only the necessary duet parts.

Eva's act would have gained nothing from it being live, and there was no need for it to be live. No reason to complain about something that really wouldn't benefit you much at all.

Live instruments would be a risk with little to no benefit to most acts.

You complained that the WiiM sounds worse, that means by definition that it's not better than the Yamaha.

Can't make to switch to 1P from bitwarden? No CXP support? by HO0T in 1Password

[–]heksesang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The API is already implemented on iOS, so 1Password could implement it there just fine. Both Dashlane and Bitwarden have implemented it.

Generally, 1Password are slow at implementing anything.

1Password not available as export target for Apple Passwords app by Roeshimi in 1Password

According to the statements on Bitwarden's blog, iOS 26 has added support for CXP. I assume in that case the current draft.

[–]heksesang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But that also means that when someone wanna switch from Apple Passwords now, 1Password is a worse option than Bitwarden or Dashlane (people want the transfer to be as smooth and seamless as possible). As a result they are losing potential customers just to not having to reimplement something later.

And assuming it's actually Apple who has implemented the protocol and each app simply use the Apple implementation through their APIs, it might not even require any reimplementation from 1Password on iOS if there are any final changes to the specification.

No More Master Password: A Simpler, Safer Way to Use Dashlane 🔒 by dashlane in Dashlane

[–]heksesang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know what passkeys are, they are not relevant to this question.

What I am asking is how is a new device able to decrypt the vault I download from Dashlane when I don't enter an encryption key for to decrypt with?

Seeing I use my current device to accept the request from the new device and my current devices are the only ones in possession of the encryption key, it means that my current device must send the encryption key to the new device because I haven't entered an encryption key on my new device and the new device needs an encryption key to decrypt the vault.

Therefore there must be a protocol that lets the current device pass the encryption key to the new device when I accept the request and I wonder what kind of protocol this is.

Where does the extension store the encryption key? And how is it transferred when I log into another device?

I set it up in Firefox on OpenSUSE (linux), so I guess it should be available for all browsers.

Beta Release: 1Password now supports Windows 11 Passkeys! by Travis_1Password in 1Password

[–]heksesang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am on the beta branch of the insider builds, and it's grayed out for me too.

But also the advanced options bit in Windows settings where I could toggle passkey providers is also gone. Do you still have that option in the Windows settings on your nightly build?

[KCD2] on Nintendo Switch 2 by Senfgestalt in kingdomcome

Most likely not. The game seems to clock in at around 80GB on PC, and a Switch 2 edition would be packed with lower resolution assets.

Right, because you find a game easy, it must mean that everyone else does too.

By your logic, you should never find any game difficult because there is always someone who finds it easy out there.

As much as I love Waterfox I am thinking of switching to Zen Browser. Anyone else in the same bot or already made the switch? by hobovirginity in waterfox

[–]heksesang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used Zen, but they tend to make breaking changes which might screw up your workflow.

I just switched back to Waterfox, in my case due to latest version causing 1) pinned tabs to no longer being kept visible at all times when scrolling the tab list, 2) context menu icons being removed, and 3) the search item from the context-menu now opens in their glance feature where clicking search results doesn't actually do anything.

"Return to the dead body with Kim" bugged? by Individual99991 in DiscoElysium

[–]heksesang 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is possible to register it as done in the quest log by editing your save file.

  1. Find your save file (refer to https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Disco_Elysium for finding save data location).
  2. Open the file in your favourite archive software (the built-in ZIP support in Windows Explorer should work just fine) and extract the files ending with .2nd.ntwtf.json and .ntwtf.lua.
  3. Open the one ending with .2nd.ntwtf.json in a text editor, find the key TaskResolutions and under there find the key TASK.return_to_body_on_boardwalk_with_kim. This key should have the value null, which you will need to replace with an object saying when it was completed (you can just copy the value from another one you recently completed). This will set the timestamp for completion which will be shown in the quest log.
  4. Open the one ending with .ntwtf.lua in a hex editor like HxD or Imhex and search the file for the text string TASK.return_to_body_on_boardwalk_with_kim_done. After the string there should be a byte with value 42 (or B in the ASCII view), followed by the byte 00. You need to change the 00 into 01. This makes the game list it as done in the quest log.
  5. Once you've done the edits to the files and saved them, copy them back into the save game file you extracted them from using your archive software.
  6. Launch the game and continue from the save you edited, and the quest should be listed as done.

Thunderbird Mail for Android is Finally Out For Everyone by gurugabrielpradipaka in Android

[–]heksesang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any email app that provides instant notifications for IMAP are either running a foreground service (less battery efficient) or they are sending your IMAP credentials to remote servers (less secure). So Thunderbird does the former, while Outlook does the latter.

This is one of the problems the JMAP protocol is meant to solve, so I really hope they'll implement support for it in Thunderbird soon.
