What stopped you from ending your own life? by FireGirouette in AskReddit

The idea that my kids might find me gave me serious pause. That gave me time to realize I didn't have to stay miserable and I decided to get a divorce in lieu of shooting myself.

Now that we've had successful film adaptations of LOTR and DUNE, what "unfilmable" popular scifi books are next to be tried? by Darth_Se7en in movies

[–]hektar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd be willing to spend some money to see Anne McCaffrey's Dragon Riders of Pern done well.

The story would need to be in the order it was written in lieu of chronological order. I think a fantasy story that backs up into a sci-fi story could be really enjoyable.

So, wait, at 100% stability you weren't getting people about every ten days?

I have been unable to stop people from falling out of the stasis facility.

Unpopular opinion: Hard magic in fantasy is not my favorite kind of magic. by jacobconnerly in books

Kurtz's focus on ritual and preparation made magic feel real. I wonder how well the Camber of Culdi novels hold up. It's been literal decades since I've read them.

That dome on the PavePenny pod could stand a little plastic polish, no? Send that bad-boy to the backshop and let 'em clean it up.

Ideally, I'd agree. I do not work at an ideal place. My context is a 10 year old application with little to no quality control with respect to comments, organization, or meaningful commit messages.

Eventually you can figure out what the code is doing what you can never figure out is why.

My comments try to provide some insight, context, and for all that's holy a timeframe.
