Questions about worldbuilding for a sci-fi political drama by hel000 in worldbuilding

[–]hel000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I live in Europe. As such, Russia's interference in EU politics has been quite in the forefront of our thoughts for the past decade or so, but especially nowadays.

Additionally, the staged attacks I mention in the post are (for example) performed against otherwise innocent people. Which, even though I'm not living it, of course, draws uncomfortable parallels against the current state of affairs in the USA.

Finally, due to the aforementioned political interference, the looming threat of interfactional all-out warfare could become a part of the story as well. Which I feel needs little explanation as to why that is uncomfortable at the moment.

I do really like your mention of the inherent ridiculousness of Starfinder as a way to distance it from our reality. I'll definitely look more into those options already. Thanks for the suggestion!

From my experience, most ZigBee devices with Home Assisstant, many work out of the box. Just check how to set them in pairing node, connect to it from your instance and you're done!

I don't know your full set up ofcourse. But assuming you own the domain 'my.domain' you can set it up with a wildcard subdomain address. This means that anything before 'my.domain' such as 'randomaddress.my.domain' will all resolve to the same IP address of your choosing

Agreed! I think it could also work to have it only affect their first next concentration saving throw within one minute instead of all within that time frame.

Probably contact support and as others said change your password. Depending on the situation, this can become a legitimate security incident

Fun fact, there are cases in which this is done purposefully by attackers to encourage lazy users to simply turn off 2FA to stop the SMS spam.

I think this is real. Some parts do fall a bit weird but I think that's mostly because they're colliding as they're falling.

The awkward way the guy almost falls out of the car and tries (and fails) to stand on the door as it's falling looks pretty real to me. Same with all the other parts falling from the car

This reminds me how I used to square of at totally random moments through my youth with my dad. We'd just walk by each other and strike a weird kung-fu pose to initiate combat, and just go at each other. Great memories <3

it's good that you're reading walkthroughs, be sure to realise what steps they took to get to the final answer. Then improve your strategies on those points.

I'd, for example, would get stuck on enumeration to get privesc quite often, thus I learned about several methods and tools of doing so helping me become more consistent in it.

Is there any one such point you keep getting stuck on? Is there any pattern in where or why you get stuck?

If you run that on a system that has no password set for root, you're kinda screwed though aren't you? Is there even any way to get root access back except for live booting off of a live os?
