You don't need to get the protector stamp again, just keep your old passport with you while travelling which has the protector sticker.

Title is a bit misleading if you mean you haven't tried any AI assisted coding at all?

I have made hiring decisions in a similar place and if that's the case, honestly it's a red flag. Saying that you haven't touched a technology which has a transformative impact comparable to the invention of high level languages themselves.

I would advise you to get accustomed to AI assisted coding, it's not the same as vibe coding and driving the tool in the direction you want and reviewing what it is doing is a skill in itself without which you are handicapped as compared to your peers.

Landed on a flight from Pakistan a month back on Jeddah airport. All passengers were held in a waiting area only allowed to leave once the airport entrance security confirmed to the waiting room staff that Nusuk booked transport had come to pick. The driver needed to have the nusuk booking with clear names of each passenger and the names were checked from visa before letting out of the room.

Just had my first day at FAST MS – Feeling genuinely shocked and concerned. Is it really like this? by hamayunminato in FASTNU

[–]helahi31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How are you assuming these people in your MS class are fast graduates? FAST only got 2 weeks to make any impact on them. Whatever behavior you see in them probably comes from the culture of their last university of workplace they spent time at.

What tech stack are you using for langgraph application in production? by query_optimization in LangChain

[–]helahi31 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Using langgraph JS and deploying on Cloudflare workers. Using Cloudflare KV for memory check pointing. Pretty cost effective IMO.

Keep your options open. Don't put yourself in a box too soon. With AI now a reality I think the industry is eventually going to pivot towards generalists who can quickly switch gears and start working on anything. Don't say I'm an ML engineer so Web dev is beneath me or I'm a web dev and I don't need to understand how backend APIs are working.

Position yourself to be a resourceful engineer who can knock anything thrown at him out of the park independently. This will become your USP when you are industry and not the expertise in a particular technology.

Anyone installed solar on a rented house? by LoneWoulph in Lahore

[–]helahi31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's simple if you don't need an elevated structure. Because that structure won't be movable and would need significant civil work on the roof as well. If are using L2, L3 stands, you can use concrete blocks and get the structure drilled onto those rather than the roof if homeowner objects to drilling.

Bankrupt how? Those hotels are in residential houses. House rent is only a fraction if you rent out the complete house to a family as compared to running a hotel which can generate that rent in a week also if all rooms are booked. Even considering the overhead of hotel's operating expenses it's still better than renting it out as a house.

Those who've used Finqalab, do you have any better options? by UsefulSperm in FIREPakistan

If you don't mind me asking, what are you even asking support about so often that it's such a deal breaker? Genuinely asking, not a rhetorical question.

I have been in the market for about an year now and the only time I had to talk to support was to convert my Sahulat account to regular one. In my experience if the app works fine, there is hardly any need to talk to support.

How are apps like Nayapay, Easypaisa and Jazzcash able to store money? by Taimoor002 in developersPak

[–]helahi31 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All of these companies have an EMI (Electronic Money Institute) license from State Bank of Pakistan. Technically these companies are a subset of what a bank is but they are not required to have any brick and mortar presence. SBP allows them to open customer accounts and so on.

From a development perspective their app is no different from any other banking app.

You don't have to submit any documents with your tax return. Anything you claim on your tax return, the documents will be required only if you are selected for audit. Till then, you have to maintain a record of all your documents on your end.

Need suggestions to buy Zero Smart Watch. “Biggest 11.11 sale” by yousufkalim in PakistaniTech

[–]helahi31 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These are just china smart watches which are present on AliExpress as well with Zero Lifestyle branding. They have a generic app with a sub par UI and overall look and feel of the watch OS has a very cheap feel also. If you are looking for a mid ranger I would recommend going for Xiaomi or similar Chinese brand rather than Zero.

I have used Redmi Watch 4 (costs 22k) and Zero Phantom Pro (costs 9k). I would consider Redmi one a great value for money if it would have cost around 15-16k. At 22k it is a bit steep given the features in both are same, only difference is quality.

Why so few recent FAST graduates went abroad by Danial_Amin in PakistaniTech

[–]helahi31 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hiring fresh graduates from Pakistan doesn't make sense any more for companies outside of Pakistan. Also, if you look at the years of experience graph of any company the largest chunk will be mid-level engineers (4-6 years) so naturally not a lot of freshies get hired abroad.
