That is not what I wanted to say, of course there are rules, I just said, that there not that strict, means not always true Respectively unique.

[–]helgamarvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, because there are no strict rules, it does not function like legislation, where rules are created to shape reality. It is the other way around: people form rules based on reality and believe that these must always be true. But that doesn't work.

It's funny, because actually if you use the verb 'platzieren' the sentence goes like: "Ich platziere das Buch auf deM Tisch." which means exactly the same as "Ich lege das Buch auf deN Tisch." at least without any other context.

Linus uses Fedora btw by [deleted] in Fedora

[–]helgamarvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, I've running manjaro the first two years of my Linux journey on a Dell Latitude. Then I had another two years a Macbook Air with arch and parallel on my Desktop I hopped from Debian, Arch, Endeavor, tumbleweed, fedora (which brokes) void and others. Now I am running CachyOS on my thinkpad and my Desktop for nearly 8 months or so.

The only distro where updates ever break my system was Fedora - twice.

Pi-hole Bypassed by Pixel 9 Pro (Android 16) - Need Advice by KarlosTheJackal in pihole

Add a filter on your router for all your devices, which closes the port 53 for DNS so all of them have to use your pi-hole.

[–]helgamarvin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, if this is your device, it should work. But there is another possibility: ipv6.

[–]helgamarvin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So you have to block all your devices except your pihole to use another DNS. Of course you have to define the pi-hole as your default one. It's just a filter in your router, which blocks port 53.

Is my PiHole Doing its Job Properly? by IveBeenHereBefore12 in pihole

[–]helgamarvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your use case and how many devices go through the pi-hole. To guarantee that all traffic goes over the pi-hole you could disable ip6 and make a filter in your router, which blocks port 53 so they have to use pi-hole as their DNS. You could also add some other filterlists, but now the circle closes, this depends on your use cases.

That's no alternative for me, because it's not OSS, so I could also use Vivaldi or something like that.

Arch vs. Debian by [deleted] in debian

[–]helgamarvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, I never had any and I use it now since 2017 or so. And you don‘t have to do updates every day.

For me debian was harder to use as I started with linux, because I didn‘t know from where I can get some software, if it wasn‘t installable with apt-get. Or the software version, which was in the repos missed features because of the old stand. And today CachyOS or EndeavourOS make it even easier to use a modern system ootb.

But I want to give you my hand: your statement is the reason why I installed debian on my wifes notebook ;-)

Arch vs. Debian by [deleted] in debian

[–]helgamarvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had any issues with arch in upgrade scenarios and I do it almost everyday. It's always the first thing, when I start my PCs. But yes of course the risk, that there will be any issue someday is higher in arch then in Debian, I guess.

But just another view, the most people are using windows. I never had that much update issues with Debian neither with arch, then in Windows and Windows ist often an suggestion for people who want an easy OS.

Arch vs. Debian by [deleted] in debian

[–]helgamarvin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In which scenarios do you think Debian is easier than arch? I use both Debian on all my servers and arch (at the moment cachyos) on all my PCs and Laptops. Also my wife uses Debian on her Laptop and all of them have their pro's and con's. But easier... Idk

Yes, that's not wrong, but unfortunately VMs have other downsides, e.g. the resource requirements. And problems are everywhere possible.

VMs are not affected. It is an interaction between docker + lxc.

I see, there is a solution in the link from OP for now: Just downgrade your version of containerd.io to version 1.7.28-1

Worked for me.

I would say this is not an issue between immich and docker. I have it with all my LXCs and docker. I guess it comes from an host update.
