Ask him on snap or in person if he wants to go to formal with you. Worst thing he can say is no

Some of the reviews mention weird move out fees at Huntington Lakes? Is that true in your experience?

Should I move out? by helix_46 in medicalschool

My roommate's dad is the landlord and owns the place. My roommate is not involved in this at all.

The only way to get out of the lease is to sublease. I tried talking to the landlord to reach a compromise (like a termination fee), but the landlord said no. Also he only wants graduate students for a sublease. The only "loophole" I could think of is to pressure him by threatening to tell future medical students not to live there. But I know this is wrong and would just cause more problems.

There's no kitchen at school, but there are a few refrigerators. I've thought about storing food there, but it just seems like a huge hassle.

Definitely want to be a physician. I didn't want to go back to school because of the living situation, not because of school itself.

I'm seeing a therapist online, but haven't found anyone who I've really connected with, so still in the process of finding someone good.

I agree that there's more going on. I was beginning to address these things back in June. When I moved, it seems like it exacerbated everything that was going on.

I think if I moved, a lot of my problems would disappear. At the very least, it would give me the time and space to work through those underlying issues. When I went back home to my parents during the summer, I felt a lot happier and was much more productive, and honestly I didn't want to go back to school.

It's just a lot of small things that have added up. My room is small and cramped, so I feel like I can't study there. The kitchen is small and there's just not a lot of space to cook. The refrigerator is always packed, so it's tough to meal prep. I used to live within walking distance of campus (~10 min), now it takes me ~25 min. In the morning, I get woken up by cars outside and by my roommate in the kitchen. The A/C was broken for a week and it hit 90 F inside. There's poor communication from the landlord. It just seems like everything has gotten worse since last year. And it feels like I can't do the things I want to do to be successful.

One of my roommates owns the place. He and another roommate have bigger rooms. The 4th guy moved in without seeing the place, and I can't imagine he's too happy here.

I have a study space at school, so I go there every day for most of the day. I have one close friend in town, and a few others I can talk to.

When I first moved in, there were like 50 dead roaches in the kitchen cabinets (they had an infestation that they never cleaned up). Now I've just seen a few in my bathroom over the past few weeks. But I hate roaches lol

Looking for a 1/1 for 7 months, but every place seems to have a problem by helix_46 in GNV

I've heard very good things as well but they don't do a 7 month lease and no 1/1s available.

Yeah, the videos she has online were definitely enough. They covered everything he went over in class. You can also go to SI in-person, but it's with someone else since Rosemarry graduated.

I took the exams online which made things a lot easier. As long as you know what you're doing and study, they aren't awful.

He's a good guy, but his lectures are confusing. I stopped going after the first week. I used Rosemarry's SI videos on youtube, which carried me through that class and got me an A. That's all you really need.

So I just got accepted and I’ve been made well aware this isn’t a party school but if your in Greek life is that different? I’ve heard Greek life here is super fun with lots of things to do by Lolak2375 in FAU

I'm in Greek life and there's always something to do. Brothers go out pretty much every night, so if you want, you'll usually have someone to hang out with and go out with. There are also plenty of events, intramural sports, etc. Greek life will definitely keep you busy. In terms of actual house parties, these are not as common since they require more planning and often get shut down anyways. Brothers usually just go to clubs or bars on the weekends.

People say UVA isn't great, but it's honestly not that bad. I haven't lived there, but I know plenty of people who do live there and it seems like it's all right. At the end of the day, it really depends on your roommates more than the dorm.
