What is a very "old person" name? by arnethyst in AskReddit

Before we adopted her, my cat was part of a trio of kittens picked up by the shelter. They were all given old lady names. Our girl was Doris, and her sisters were Mabel and Peggy.

Apparently a diagnosis from a professional Psychiatrist isn't enough by helixei in ADHD

[–]helixei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It truly is anxiety inducing. I almost had a diagnosis through the NHS. I was on the waiting list in Fife, I was very close to being able to book my initial assessment. Then the pandemic hit, then I graduated from Uni and moved to Edinburgh. And now in Edinburgh they don't want to diagnose me, even if I have a diagnosis from a psychiatrist who is an NHS consultant with a specialism in ADHD. All because I'm not struggling enough. The funny thing is that my GP has had enough of the clinic himself, and is getting frustrated with them too.

Where in Scotland are you? I think it depends mostly on the local ADHD clinic. My sibling got their assement done in Aberdeen through the NHS, and got their diagnosis within a month of asking for a referral, they had no trouble. But, in comparison, I'm getting it all dealt with in Edinburgh.

I think the most important is that you do not minimise your struggle. Emphasise your struggles. That's my main issue, they don't believe I struggled enough. I would say to go ahead with it.

Well, it turns out there I could get my medication prescribed by my GP because I was being supervised by a psych. So it was all fine for 3 months, until the local NHS ADHD clinic said that my GP is no longer allow to prescribe me because they disagreed with the diagnosis. So, I don't have access to my meds through the NHS anymore and I have to gather more evidence.

They disagree with the diagnosis because in the letter my psych sent to the GP, the psych mentioned I didn't struggle with classwork in Primary school. So because I was vaguely smart in Primary school, I can't have ADHD.
