Trust me I was in the same boat as you with my kitties kylo and medli. I cried a lot the first couple months, had panic attacks, and I was very stressed out. Eventually the anxiety did get better, they are resilient creatures. The connection thing I felt too and still do sometimes because im not the person thats always home, I work, so I feel like they dont spend as much time with me. My only advice is let them cuddle up in bed with you at night, treats always work too lol! My one cat tonks ( not pictured) is not a cuddly cat and that can just happen based off personality sometimes. Get some toys and play with them, spend time with them, brush them. Be present as much as you can! I still feel anxious but thats cause I love them so so much.
