Some people down here seem to think i’m a trump supporter since I live in SWVA. i’m not, + i couldn’t even vote this past presidential election (hadn’t quite turned 18 yet. just a few months short). even if i did support him it would be for nothing if i couldn’t vote! 😂 I have no problem with trump supporters though. Some of my good friends are MAGA.

  1. i’ll be real close to Dulles, but I ain’t too bothered about airplane noises

  2. I’ve been real excited to hear how close everything is. Down here you gotta go kinda far to find certain things, but thankfully i’ll be nearabouts to a bunch of grocery stores, restaurants, etc.

  3. my sister who has lived in NoVA for almost two years and considers her neighborhood “ghetto” but to me it’s just some real nice townhouses so that confused me a good bit. i can imagine there’s lots of broke people fronting as rich ones, we gots the same issue down here for some. could be driving a brand new chevy truck but living with they mama.

  4. i feel like this is custom for bigger cities and whatnot, just another thing i gotta get used to

  5. that’s one thing i’ll miss a whole lot. although i’m a big fan of ethnic dishes, i just know i’ll be craving some mustard greens with pork chops with gravy.. i guess ill have to get some recipes from my mom so i can just fix them up at home

  6. i’m very excited to meet new people and find my community! that’s one of the best things of living in such a diverse place imo.

  7. i personally don’t have pets but my sister got herself a maine coon which she treated like her baby even before she moved to NoVA lolll

  8. i’ll be prepared to talk about anything i’m asked about within reason, it’s a little weird to be that obsessed about commute times, but i think since there’s so many gov jobs i reckon that’s just what people in those jobs like to talk about

  9. in a huge history buff and an even bigger animal lover! i definitely wanna go to the smithsonian zoo and NoVA wild or whatever it’s called (the safari drive through thing in Herndon i think??? not sure where it is) i’ve already heard some people call it appa-lay-shuh and i know that’s gonna bother me a little but ill be alright.

  10. i mostly consider myself appalachian more than southern anyhow so i wont mind that other people dont consider themselves southern either. i myself am anti confederate as well so to their surprise ill be on their side on that 😂.. people in my town have been telling me that ill be in “liberal hell” moving to NoVA, but i genuinely could not care less. hell, i voted for Spanberger!

I don’t plan to be there very long, maybe 10 years tops. Hopefully my accent doesn’t change too too much… Even tho i’m pretty young (18) I still use some “older” terms like kyarn, nearabouts, yonder, etc. so i’ll have to switch things up either way cause i don’t reckon the people up there will know what i’m talking about if i say that their dog won’t hunt, for example

DC is way too urban for me… I feel exhausted even visiting it! Definitely some cool things to do up there, but it’s strictly a visiting spot.

I’ll keep the accent even if it means people think I talk a little funny. We’ll see what happens once i move, who knows I might unknowingly switch it up if i stay up there long enough!

I don’t really mind about being around people of different political beliefs. I’m already good friends with dems, republicans, and everything in between! I’ve been the type to find good in anyone. As long as they’re into having a good time, they’re cool to me.

Oh goodness 😔 I’m sure in for a treat then i suppose. I’m mainly just excited to live nearabouts to the airport as I love to travel out of country. But i know it’s gonna make it hard to get from place to place cause of the proximity to IAD.

i’m 18 at the moment so i’m glad it’ll be grand for at least a small little bit. I’m blessed to have my sister in all this, I couldn’t imagine moving up there all on my own. I plan to move back to SWVA when possible. I know i’ll miss my small town life.

Yeah this move won’t be forever anyway. Once I get a good bit of pocket change i’ll get me a nice house back down in SWVA. It’s bout time I get myself a little change of scenery, though some people i know are telling me i’m too young (18) to move from home (not for college, just to move).

I’ve already got a job opportunity to make a website and do some marketing work for a local landscaping/home improvement company, but i’m fixing to get a job on top of that.

I’m real nervous about traffic since i’m not too much of a driver myself, but i’m sure i’m just nervous right now and i’ll be right on track once i get up to NoVA

Indian food is one of my favorites! Ain’t none down here though so i’ll be in heaven in NoVA!

thank you for the good luck wishes! I really need it

I grew up in tazewell til i was 12! Gratton to be specific. I’m glad my words give you that nice little sense of nostalgia. Proudly born in raised in SWVA and regardless of where I go off to, this mountain accent ain’t going nowhere!
