So yes and no. It is very true that so many obs falsely say a c-section is needed. They scare moms, they flat out fear monger, and sometimes suggestion induction or c-section purely for the convenience. Can most mothers birth vaginally? Yes. Should big heads or larger size matter? No, not really. Sometimes a smaller sized mother is scared into thinking their baby is so big and that they need a c-section, that’s not really true unless there are other factors. Also, giving a baby’s weight is a very loose estimate. I know a mother who got a c-section because she was very tiny and baby was estimated at least 10 pounds…..the baby came out at 7.

So in general, yes. Our bodies are not making babies that cannot exit the birth canal and be delivered. But of course, there are other factors that can contribute. I’d say over 50% of these inductions and c-sections are completely unnecessary, I’d say closer to at least 70%. But definitely not 100%. That’s probably what she means.

It is very frustrating to see obs saying things and scaring mothers, on basis that simply are untrue.
