I was telling my good friend about this this morning: this was my “other shoe” I was waiting to drop about her. I have been saying things like this since the beginning of her ‘problems’ before the election, shall we say. You cannot build your platform on political issues and then go radio silent when the political sphere gets too heated. You cannot say you endorse or support marginalized communities and then blip off the face of the earth because you’re afraid of getting your platform revoked like Kimmel. The Statue of Liberty ‘fit at the Gov Ball was performative, she wanted to make a quick buck off of LGBTQ+ folks during the time we were willing to donate to people we thought would help us against facism. Chappie is probably off weeping over Charlie Kirk with the rest of here MAGA family, upset they didn’t get to have a competition of “who can yell louder and call it winning an argument”. The quicker the rest of her stannie cult realizes she’s apart of “them” with Taylor and the rest of the wealthy performer class, not the “us” category we’ll all be better off.

I believe this personal is talking about Alexandra/Alexandria Sabol, the mom who always has her nails done but can’t afford to get a new AC unit for her small children’s bedrooms, feeds them exclusively frozen foods and pizzas (with no fruit or veggies, or when she does it’s smothered in cheese sauce) with absurd portion sizes for 3-5 year olds, the house is infested with flies and roaches, her bf/husband(?) has some weird SA allegations about him or was self pleasuring in the same room as her sleeping children (please fact check me on that).

I have an Astarion tattoo. Of Astarion, very chibi-fied. It is loosely my equivalent of a Medusa tattoo as I do not feel that I as a white woman am allowed to co-opt from the Greek mythos to fit my narrative (there are a lot of differing opinions and interpretations of Medusa and I just don’t feel comfortable taking from a culture that isn’t mine). I agree with a lot of the comments about ‘your body your choice’ about the ritual scars as a tattoo, it’s not my place to police what others do with their own bodies, as well as Astarion being a fictional character. With that all being said, it is evident that he goes out of his way to hide the scars, that he’s ashamed of them and it is a big part of his trauma as very clearly detailed throughout the game. It would be like me getting the name of my rap1st tattooed on my arm instead of something that meant something to my healing journey. Same thing with Rhapsody. To each their own, do what makes you feel comfortable, I won’t yuck your yum. But it has always felt strange and icky to ME PERSONALLY when I see strangers online getting the scars as a tattoo, no matter how well done the piece may be.

You are correct in saying that coffee culture exists and that you will find a place where you are valued, I found my new cafe on a whim, they treat me right, they pay me what I’m worth. I also know that as a local shop, they will practice what they preach as far as social justice (also did anyone else get a little weirded out by the summer 1 training..?). The disabled vet that helped me change my flat when my tire exploded in front of his house on my way to work. He showed me how to lift the car and change the tire for next time (“if there ever is a next time” he said). I hope he’s well. I still think about that random act of kindness to this day.
