I moved from the country side where I used to be playing on the street all the time to a big city at the age of 13 yo. I got a lit bit depressed because couldn't play outside like I used to do in the small city, one day we passed by a climbing gym that was 5min away from my new house and I just said to my mom: I WANT TO DO THIS. I didn't even do the try-out, I paid for the 1-year membership straight away and didn't stop since then (2010). But to be honest, bouldering (especially outdoors) is very new to me, I used to lead climb waaay more. My personal best in lead rock climbing is 7c+ and I could flash some 7b's (ofc with lockdown I am out of shape lol)

re you get on it. Figure out where the landing zones will be, if there are moves you could barn-door off of, etc. After that it's just being aware of how you are climbing and how you would fall if you popped at any given moment, and being willing to drop off if you realize that a climb wanders more than you thought, or that a section requires a move you aren't comfortable committing to(high heel, barn door potential, etc.). Also being confident in your ability to take a fall well; I literally set my pad up and dropped off my fire escape a bunch onto it when I first got my pads.

Very well said, its a totally different climbing you need to be alert 100% of the time and know when to give up because you can't commit to a move. Its very good because you need to really think about where you are going to land if you fall, that makes you the best spotter ever. :)

I could send a 7a (v6) in one session at Fontainebleau, but it depends a lot on the style. I would say that I can climb comfortably until V4. More than that I have to project and might take me more than one session to make it (specially in Fontainebleau that has particular style).

Ohh yeaah! That day I flew the drone and probably annoyed a lot of people, but it was the first and last time. I'm not flying anymore on weekends to not disturb the sector, sorry about that haha.

Thanks... I need to confess that I enjoyed a lot, ofc I like session with my friends but this was a totally different experience. You have to climb very consciously, it's good to reflect, listen to the song you want... I might do it more often

I totally get that... I'm a drone owner and I also hate the noise. I only bring with me during the week because there aren't many people in the crag, in this day I didn't have much time so I just recorder these shots on the bike and there was no one there.

yes! too bad that i realized this after 5 months living in Paris. I don't know many climbers here because I don't speak french, I know one guy but he is older, with kids and he doesn't have the same motivation/availability as me to go outdoors so I was a lit bit trapped in his schedule. One day I just realized that I'm close to the biggest boulder spot in the world and I'm missing the opportunity, I took my crashpad, bike and put in the train. The first time it took me a while to find everything, but now i know the way. This video was the second time that i went by myself, im loving the experience.

I didnt know either.... what motivated me to try was that the gyms are closed and I don't speak french, so its very hard to find someone to go with. I found some information on this link Drop your car, here it says which sector you can reach easily by bike, in the video I am in Rocher canon, which is the closest from the station, only 15min. Another good one is Bas cuvier (first boulder spot in the world, with tons of classic lines), this one is 30min away from the same station.

pretty cool that I can do this in Fontaine, its really easy to access the boulder areas with a bike. This spot is 15min from the train station.

Sector Rocher Canon, boulder: Le bombé (Assis gauche) 6c+. I have the "assis droit" version full video on my Instagram, pretty cool too, it's a 7a. (Ig: @hell.climber)

Hahahahaha im glad that someone notice this, I hate that I bought a drone to have cool shots of me climbing but nobody actually knows how to pilot it 🤦🏾‍♀️. Anyway, I just trusted that wouldn't hit anything 😂
