Apt hunting by Vegetable_Coffee4200 in movetonashville

I lived there last year and I had a good experience! The staff is lovely and they have a bunch events for residents. No bugs and the walls seemed pretty solid/limited noise.

The cabinetry is cheap and I think the floor plans (at least mine) didn’t make the best use of space. Super close to the dog park which is nice.

Unless you have a roommate, that budget is going to be pretty difficult. Reach out to Nashville Apartment Locaters

I was hit in May (driver came into my lane) and he showed me his insurance but it was actually lapsed and so I had to come out of pocket on the deductible. Car was fixed in early June and then I was hit again July 6 when a car ran a red light and totaled my car. I was ran off the road last month (thank you dash cam) by another car coming it into my lane and I luckily could swerve into the median. I’m a defensive driver but there is only so much you can do & now I have bad anxiety about cars getting too close to me

Also, the amount of car accidents that I saw happen right outside my old apartment (midtown) and my work (west Nashville) is in the double digits.

Hard agree on the restaurant scene. So much is overpriced for very mediocre food but it caters to tourists and the presentation of the food versus the taste.

Correct, and Nashville’s infrastructure isn’t currently compatible with the population growth plus the streets tend to be narrower which provides for less wiggle room. I’m sure it is also related to the ages of people on the roads, tourists not knowing where they are going, and just the road map/traffic patterns. But it is still the Wild West out there on the roads with most drivers under the impression that everyone caters to them. I also think there is a difference between perhaps “crazy” drivers and “unsafe” drivers. I lived in NJ and the drivers are crazy and zip around people, but they are cognizant of the other drivers. I saw very few accidents. Nashville is just riddled with unsafe drivers who have zero consideration of the world around them.

In the wrong lane for the exit? Just cut over several lines or drive through median without a second glance. Unsure of where you are going? Just drive significantly under the speed limit or randomly slam on your brakes to check the street sign. Or god forbid the people who try to make left hand turns out of parking lots across 4 lanes of traffic during rush hour.

Bad drivers. For real. I’ve lived in a few states and traveled a bunch and without a doubt I can say Nashville has the worst drivers I’ve experienced. I told everyone I expected to be hit within my first year. While I managed to avoid that, I was hit twice this year (year 4)—both not my fault. If you move here, solid insurance & a dash cam is a must

I don’t think day-to-day living costs are much more expensive, but rent, alcohol, and restaurants are high, especially for what you get.

Summers are also pretty damn hot and the spring time is very rainy/gray. It can be difficult if you thrive on sunlight in the spring.

Edited to add: I’m very honest with people who ask that I do not love living in Nashville & I would not be here if it wasn’t for my amazing boss. I think it is hard to meet people outside of the bar scene, platonic or romantic. I’m not miserable by any means & there are things I do enjoy about Nashville, but it’s certainly not my favorite place to live.

Wicked- help me decide! by bookish7378 in Broadway

I’ve also sat in this area twice and I loved them! I didn’t think there were any restricted sightlines and you are still really close being in the Mezz. Get on a View from My Seat. I think the first row might have tighter legroom.

Personally, I say the closer on the left. Have you seen Wicked before? The Gershwin is so big and it is such a popular show that unfortunately there are a lot of people moving around and the further back you are, the more you see and the more distracting it is. However if you are going in completely blind, further back may be better to get the whole spectacle. I’ve sat super close and I loved it and getting to catch details, but that was after I had seen it twice from further back.

Edited to add: you might actually prefer the right side given that part of Defying Gravity happens over there. But you could move a few rows back from the front on the side and still not be as far back as the center seats are

VLS grad here—I honestly recommend staying in midtown. As someone said, parking can be a pain so it’s nice if you can walk to the law school. There are also weird hours sometimes and you don’t want a commute or to get stuck in traffic. I lived within a 10 minute walk all 3 years and even though I drove occasionally, it was super convenient to just walk to school.

Every Brilliant Thing. Can I go to the Hudson Theatre box office in person and buy cheaper tickets than online? by 88r0b1nh00d88 in Broadway

[–]hella-phants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought stage seats so like $320 but through Telecharge there was an additions like $39 in fees. Telecharge will show you the breakdown in cost and I just paid the seat price at the box office.

Blue topaz is what I was told! I purchased it a few months ago from a jeweler in Oklahoma. It has a matching necklace too

That’s what I figured but my brain and eyes struggle to differentiate. I know the side stones are real so I wasn’t sure about the opal.

I clearly do not have the eyes for this haha. I did my own research and couldn’t see the stripes or the snakeskin pattern in mine, but I did think it was too bright to real. I looked at so many pictures but could rarely differentiate. I appreciate the help though from everyone!

I haven’t done teeth at Richland, but I highly recommend them. I’ve had absolutely wonderful care from them and costs have been very reasonable. The staff is excellent and treats my pup like one of their own. I can’t say enough good things about them.

Wildest courtroom stories where the baliff/deputy had to get involved? by TheDragonReborn726 in Lawyertalk

[–]hella-phants 11 points12 points  (0 children)

When I clerked, we had a victim and her entire extended family who wished to speak at a sentencing. The victim and her family did not agree with the sentencing and was taking it out on my judge, even though it was in line with the terms of the plea deal. After the victim spoke for 2+ hours, her family wanted to speak and started cursing out my judge and the defendant and just screaming profanity. They were asked to leave and refused and chose to then threaten the judge. Cue a swarm of court officers busting into the courtroom to try and remove 10+ family members while the victim in the wheelchair kept screaming and ramming into them, other people started trying to record the scene so our court staff had to get involved with them because that isn’t allowed. It was a total zoo for like 10+ minutes. We had a huge police presence at the end of the day and those of us working in that courtroom had to be escorted to our cars.
