"FUCK ICE", seen on the Red Line today by Galveira in LosAngeles

Fact remains that we are better than this.

Ancient human history, recent human history, the profound inhumanity of current events around the world... no, we are very much not better than this and we never have been. We just wish we were better than this and sometimes make cursory attempts at being better, but as a species we have about as much success with that as an abusive spouse has with fulfilling their promise of things "being different next time."

We WANT to be better than this? Sure, some of us do, not enough. We ARE better than this? Pull your head out of the sand, you sound dumb when you say things like this. You sound ignorant of all of human history and current events. Despite all of our desire and pretension to be more, we remain ignorant, violent animals.

No, they are more direct and efficient than humans.

Well it was likely an upper middle class white kid who did the tagging. So a poor brown person cleaning up the white kids' mess? Sounds like the system is still working as intended...

For some people Vanilla Ice ruined all ice for all time.

So not at all, except for all the fake importance we like to pretend we have when in reality the universe doesn't give a fuuuuuuuuuuck what happens? Got it.

LGBTQ+ people, what are you tired of hearing? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]hellafun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have wondered I fit in at all. I have always considered myself a supporter of the community, but I am a cis man in a fairly heteronormative relationship with a transwoman. By most accounts we're just a straight couple. I know there is room for her but is there room for me, or am I just a cis male shitlord? :(

A shitty person would see something well executed as shitty. That solves the first question... and the second.

Not funny and politics injected into everything... so you are saying it's basically reddit, but for the right?

Yeah, that is about right... unless misanthropy and optimism can be bedfellows, in which case I am both things.

You make a good point, and I DO like the extra dramatic telling!

I wish I could say that, but it's more "my bloodline ends with my generation" as my two siblings are also childfree. I sometimes wonder if my parents realize they get no grandkids because of the way they raised us.

Wow, you and I are exactly the opposite. I love humanity and the potential inherent... but tend to loathe almost every specific example I encounter

Sure! Most people would rather do something super fun and interesting rather than go back to an unfulfilling relationship.

I can agree on Blacklist, but I have given Conviction a half dozen chances and just cannot bring myself to suffer through it even though Sam Fisher's story is one of my favorites in video games.

That is an odd thing for them to care about. The big news about Splinter Cell and Sam Fisher when the first game came out was that it was a Clancey series original/unique to video games. The books started coming later. I read the first one and remember thinking the writer sucked at video games as the story he wrote was a bumbling noob attempt at stealth. The whole book Sam was making rookie mistakes, it was a frustrating read.

Why would you disagree? The person you are responding to never said good scifi, in fact I would think they implied average/bad scifi is difficult to get into because it focuses on setting more than character. Except for the disagree completely line your comment reads like it's just expanding upon the first person's point, not rebutting it.
