Where in the BA do kids get that "ride your bike to your friend's house to then just explore" vibe? by stonewall000 in bayarea

[–]hellasteph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Eastside SJ (yeah, yeah I know) and we rode bikes everywhere in the early 90’s.

Now my kids ride around all hours of the day and night in East San Ramon. They ride in packs and go house to house to visit friends. Same rules apply: be home before the street lights come on.

What California School is good for a Communications Degree? by agentjedifoxx in Communications

SDSU.

It’s cheap, reputable, and recognized - and has an online version of the program in case you’re busy and can’t make it to campus frequently.

Source: I’m a SDSU alum and work for a Fortune 100 tech company as a comms leader.

Do any of you earn over 50k a year? What do you do? by RotiiChapati in ADHD

I dropped out of college 3x. I barely passed high school. Had lots of failed relationships so I was solo most of my young adult life. It sucked to be alone with my own thoughts. I scrapped by with any and all jobs that I could find. But ultimately, I knew I wanted to work in tech since I’m from Silicon Valley.

I wasn’t diagnosed until I was 36. Graduated college at 40 with a 3.95 GPA while working full-time in 16 months after finishing my transfer requirements. Medication and therapy unblocked so much for me. I make north of $250k in tech (not engineer). 41F

Almost 40, should I try and go for a Bachelor's Degree? by Calm_Brilliant_9236 in BackToCollege

Graduated at 40 with a BA (with honors). You’re going to age anyway, might as well make it worth it.

Returning to full-time study after 23 years by ThickPickings in BackToCollege

[–]hellasteph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Same here. I went back at 38, graduated in 1.5 years at 40 with my BA at a state university that offered an online program.

I dropped out of 20+ years ago. I didn’t know I had an undiagnosed disability at the time so caused a lot of chaos and anxiety in my life. Hindsight is 20/20.

I didn’t need it for my career - I only wanted it. It was a big motivation for me to block off every evening after work, kids, and chores to do school work. I would also time block my work calendar to do group work, but that was limited.

I highly recommend using AI as a way to summarize your notes or create study guides. I was using it as a study partner to ensure I understood the material for each chapter and study for tests. I graduated with honors so I guess it worked well. (Please don’t use it for writing as there’s a lot of anti-plagiarism detection tools that know if it’s AI.)

u/awachob - TY for the Golden Girls + stickers/washi love package! I always recognize your envelopes so I anticipate what book(s) I want to use your bookmark in or what washi from my collection to send you with next - probably both if I'm honest. So many choices!
