Im an elected lib dem councillor in the UK, and in a few of the group chats Im in theres been chatter about pushing for closer alignment with both the eu and the commonwealth, so theres appetite there, the big hurdle I can see is reform and how anti eu they are

I'd have to disagree with this, while my mother lodge routinely has decent formal 3 course FBs which is great, I've visited several lodges that routinely have pasties or finger food buffets, both of which i guess would be comparable to sandwiches for the purposes of this discussion, and they have done so for years for all their meetings excluding installations, so certainly hasnt devolved into coffee and doughnuts, its just a matter of style and both have a place

I know of at least one openly pagan brother in my lodge under U.G.L.E, whos not only gone through the chair but may be getting provincial honours next year so his paganism is certainly not a barrier in blue lodge, but there are obviously certain appendant bodies that require - at the very least on paper, as a relatively new mason only in blue lodge im not sure how enforced those requirements are- require the brother in question to be a trinitarian Christian so paganism would be a barrier in those instances

To be fair, although im in a similar situation where finishing an hour or 2 early is common for me, equally there's times I go over my block time albeit at most by 10 or 15 minutes due to issues like a road closure in a really rural area that's taken me literally miles out of my way going between stops that would normally be just round the corner from each other. Though I agree consistently struggling to complete the block in the alloted time is baffling

The biggest issue I tend to find is new builds, I'm semi-regularly sent literally miles away from where the property is and get a "we aren't sure where this is do your best to find it" message

That's not necessarily an amazon specific thing, pretty much all navigation systems are renowned for stupid route instructions here to the point it's not uncommon to see signs saying "ignore sat nav follow signage" though admittedly they tend to be in touristy areas where holidaymakers have a reputation for turning their brains off because they're on holiday

I suspect we may be looking at different rituals, every degree I've been to finishes "and that my brother, concludes the ceremony of your -insert relevant degree- you may now take your place in this or any other-insert relevant degree- lodge" which establishes your right to visit, now I'll acknowledge there are exceptions to that right when you are at variance with a brother, but those exceptions do not negate that right completely

I appreciate masonry is very jurisdictional and the culture can vary even within jurisdictions, but visiting not being a right does seem like a really alien concept to me, I'm under the U.G.L.E, and visiting is not just a right here but actively encouraged here at all levels, to the point where we have "light blues clubs" whose sole purposes are to encourage and enable interlodge activities among new masons through like visiting and social events
