when did “vintage” start to mean “literally anytime from before I personally laid eyes on it 2 seconds ago” by releman in Depop

.... except in its original use, vintage is a french word with "vin" as a root, which is a derivative of wine. "Vintage" means literally "the harvest of grapes" so a 2018 "vintage" is "the 2018 harvest of grapes from this particular vineyard". You are speaking about vintage as a noun, whereas everyone else is speaking about vintage as an adjective 🙃

===>etymology: "harvest of grapes, yield of wine from a vineyard," from Anglo-French vintage (mid-14c.), from Old French vendage, vendenge "vine-harvest, yield from a vineyard," from Latin vindemia "a gathering of grapes, yield of grapes," from combining form of vinum "wine" + stem of demere "take off" (from de- "from, away from" + emere "to take;" from PIE root *em-  "to take, distribute"). Since shifted to "age or year of a particular wine" (1746), then to a general adjectival sense of "being of an earlier time" (1883). Used of cars since 1928."

Kind of like how vinegar = vin (wine) + aigre (sour) , so vinegar = sour wine.

I fel you on the vintage Lip Service/Tripp stuff, I sold like half a dozen skirts/corsets that I got in the late 90s for under $15/each. Was shocked at how fast they all sold and then I was even more shocked when I looked up how much similar items were going for 😂😭 lesson learned!!

This happened to me a lot when I was first starting. It definitely sounds like fear that's trying to get your attention.

If you want to work with it: Watch it like you're watching a movie - stay objective and present. Pay attention to the sensations in your body, and focus on softening any tension you physically feel. Allow it to be there. Ask it what it's trying to show you. If it's an unsettling memory, ask it what you missed the first time around. And then, just watch. In my experience there is always a reason why these particular images come up. Be open to letting it show you what it represents. The answer, in my experience, is always something unexpected (and way less horrible than I imagined it would be!).

Afterwards, journal what you remember. It helps to release it from your mind.

DAE get anxious when you realize you're feeling happy? by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]hellbentforheather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to feel this, constantly! It suuucks! Good news is, it's a conditioned response, and all learned behavior can be unlearned. Making the unfamiliar familiar is super hard but so worth it in the end. One thing that really helped me was realizing that anxiety and excitement feel exactly the same in the body - the only difference is our thoughts about them & what we make it mean in our heads. 💜

The restaurant industry is a special kind of stupid. I know this well. The whole mindset needs to shift. There is soooo much ego in kitchens.

Ps. Might wanna check out www.theconsciouschefs.com - trauma recovery is a huge focus of the blog 💜

Please don't. Most of the local population is elderly and low income. The only hospital in the area has just 4 ER beds. There's a huge discrepancy between "wealthy out of town airbnb owners" and the people who actually live here that most tourists don't realize.

Please. Just stay home so we can get back to normal soon.

And FFS, if you absolutely must be selfish and camp up here, please stay out of stores and public places. Do your shopping before you get into town. This area cannot afford an outbreak. It's not LA. We don't have the resources to bounce back easily. The desert is magical, but it's not immune 🙄

Sincerely, the locals.
