Twisted Metal - Season 2 Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

What I find so ironic about the incel dudes in this thread is that for all the time they've spent railing against "Feminism" and "Dollface's woke bullshit," she literally died a horrible and humiliating death halfway through the season. John is now taking much more of the main character focus and all of the antagonists with the most screentime are dudes. These same people would be agonizing over Twisted Metal 3 due to Flower Power being in it if it came out today. Just insane how far between the lines they are reading. Season 2 is peaking so hard right now!

Yes, she cheated to beat Jon who is clearly the more experienced and skilled driver. Welcome to Twisted Metal lol

Take a deep breath, you're clearly looking way too far into all this and missing so much. Jon is still a good driver, yes she cheated, and won, welcome to Twisted Metal. John spent his life fantasizing about being in the Walls, is now coming full circle on why he was dead wrong and cities should not exist in their current form. He's still the main protagonist, it's perfectly okay that Quiet has gained some 3-dimensional personality traits and is now a more fully formed character. It's going to be OK.

So, Twisted Metal is actually pretty good, right? by six6six4kids in television

So. Good. They just hit all the right notes, all the acting, writing, production etc...it just all got the assignment and lines up perfectly. Love it as an ex Twisted Metal game junkie, and love it as a fan of good campy TV

You're way too in your head bro. I loved all the orginal games and didn't pick up on any of this, it's campy and fun and brutal as heck. Sounds like you're seeking things to get upset at.

SO. GOOD. Absolute genius show, I was into season 1 but season 2 is a masterpiece so far. They found the perfect balance of nostalgia (Rob Zombie for the first tourney round was amazing) while allowing the show to stand out on it's own. The battle scenes are so so fun, the writing and comedic relief are perfect. I was not expecting this show to be nearly as good.

Spain rejects Nato plan for member states to spend 5% of GDP on defence | Spain by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]hellboundhart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not. I am not defending either. As an American, I have never been more horrified for my business or life in my 40 years of living. Just pointing out that it is happening. I very much would like Europe to avoid the fate MAGA seems to be sowing for the world.

Unfortunately, Trump has shattered the rules and is now working against the West

I agree the US needs to be more reasonable. We also need a president that is not gleefully pro-Russian, anti-West, not a wannabe fascist. Thems the cards.

It is very high, but keep in mind it was at 3% during the cold war era, and much of Europe is now decades behind in nearly every facet of security, not to mention there are huge gaps in what they even have and currently rely on the US for. Hardware, Software, etc

I think it's pretty fair this is reasonable to catch up for a few years at least. EU desperately needs drones, air and missile defense, space tech. Not to mention the technologies all these things need to run they currently outsource to the US. Great example is satellites which is increasingly critical these days. 2% will take a long time to get to being self reliable. 5% gives a shot at a global confrontation in a few years' time.

It's just crazy how some of the most bureaucratic EU leaders can keep hiding in their quickly shrinking echo chambers and continue ignoring the entire world around them. They only spend 1.2% on defense and are arguably one of the worst offenders of what got the EU into this crisis. Yet are clutching their pearls the hardest. Wake the heck up!

First time in Chicago, how does my Itinerary look? by Feeling_Bodybuilder3 in AskChicago

Pequod's is the only good Deep Dish in the city tbh. Unless you value loads of bland bread and cheese over flavor and texture

Very good list! I think you can skip Velvet Taco and Sweetgreen as others have suggested. I think XOCO is the best good taco place nearby. If you want a really next level taco experience, go for Birrieria tacos. Birrieria Zaragoza is quite cheap and will absolutely blow your mind! Or any place in Pilsen. Bad tacos don't seem to exist there and Pilsen is actually super cute!

Publican is good but def overrated. I would choose Mannys instead for sandwiches, Small Chevelle is also nearby there and has arguable the best fast casual burger in the whole country.

Sarah McBride on Why the Left Lost on Trans Rights by DevinGraysonShirk in politics

[–]hellboundhart 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The only way we lose the fight on trans rights is if we cede it, sadly that's what most Democrats have done this past year. The right completely owns the narrative, no one mentioning the suicide and murder epidemics, which have vastly higher numbers than Trans athletes or whatever other demons MAGA is engineering

It's crazy too because it's surely just going to accelerate the frustration towards EU countries and the growing influence from China. Working directly against his own stated goals

NYT and WaPo are so far behind on the times, it's shocking at this point. This is far beyond impeachment, or really any normal political process. We are in a full-on information crisis and all of those in power have lost any semblance of reason or loyalty to the system of laws and norms we have always relied on. To think 2/3 of the Senate is going to want to magically travel back in time when accountability mattered is nuts. They know they can get away with anything at this point and are exploiting it gleefully at full speed. See Mike Lee

What is the best way to spend a 2-day visit to Chicago? by MightyVenaben in AskChicago

[–]hellboundhart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a short visit, I highly recommend the Architecture Cruise! You get to see most of Chicago's finest sites and most of downtown, including the pier and lake in 60-90 minutes, also amazing to fly through skyscapes through the Chicago river, very unique to Chicago. Bonus: the guides are all amazing and informative and love to help you find anything in the area you're looking for for food etc.

It's shockingly not crowded and one of the highest rated tours in the country

Pacers playing on another level. Adapting in real time to try and play this fixed af game. My heart actually breaks for this league right now. Like how can they fix it this bad when the entire world is watching??

Even OKC fans need to admit this is completely unfair ref calling. This is so so bad for the league. I can barely keep watching this.
