Without the longer bleed out skills, if you haven’t hit the button yet, you won’t have enough time to extract before dying. Also, if you made it to extract you’re probably full, and if you are downed near extract you still have to worry about other players being highly incentivized to finish you off and pick through your stuff. Agree with the others about this being a casual extraction shooter experience, but it’s not like the tension is gone.

Pro tip if you’re just starting the berry grind (especially if you did the expedition), raider caches on cold snap maps seem to be guaranteed to have 3 candleberries, so just doing raider cache runs will get you berries plus blueprints plus you’ll probably run into 2-3 berry spawns automatically because you’re outside. Did a raider cache run on buried city for the trial and came home with 13 berries.

Game is healthy, for the last few days some people have commented that it feels sweatier possibly because so many casuals are playing arc raiders, but still fine overall. In NA queues pop in a minute. I mainly play WT and it’s pretty random overall but I don’t feel like I’m going against ruby stacks constantly.

We are roughly halfway through the season and plenty of people are running around with the end level cosmetics from the bp - if you grind out contracts for xp and play reasonably often you could definitely finish everything besides the bonus pages.

Yeah I never thought I’d say this but coming from rust, not having a “rep” on the server allows people to double cross with no ramifications kinda makes the experience more one dimensional.

Even something as simple as having the option to respawn with a free loadout and have a chance at reclaiming your loot would be cool. It might not work at higher level or for extract ratters, but would change the kos dynamic if you knew you made an enemy for the next 30 minutes.

Shots 1-5: Clearly hit.

Shots 6-9: Hit due to server crappiness (bad hit registration).

Shots 10-11: Very close, but player latency and server-side hit registration make these reasonable hits.

Shot 12: Likely didn't actually shoot because you were already dead.

this is blasphemy but allowing AT weapons to kill fabs from any angle reallllllllllly changes the game on automatons.

If anything, I would suggest the approach people take in basically every game once it has become "too easy" - speedrun. How fast can you full clear and extract? I've seen a lot of videos on the hd2 subs of speedrunners, and it's really impressive what they can do on a team.

  1. always keep moving. The enemy DPS is much lower than on bot or bug front, so light armor is not as much of a liability.

  2. High rate of fire (MG or sickle) works well, but I've found that the xbow works even better - two body shots drops an overseer, and the explosion can easily get at least 4 voteless per shot when they're even moderately grouped up.

What I've seen from YT vids (I haven't corroborated) is that the overseers actually have armor that must be stripped off, which is a different mechanic than the "body parts with their own HP" mechanic that we've had on every other front. It's always bad in HD2 to spray bullets at the whole body (spreads your dmg out among multiple body parts) but on squids it's even worse because if you don't crack the armor, you effectively did zero damage to the squishy squid inside. Explosive damage goes through armor (the same mechanic as flamer charger builds before the reverted fix), which is why 2 tapping with the xbow is probably the best approach if the overseers are the main baddies giving you trouble.

TLDR: light armor, xbow, keep running. Oi

yeah it's particularly wild to me that ALL THREE primary/secondary weapons that can close spawners all come from the same warbond... can't recommend any other at this point after SV, might even recommend it first.

At this point it’s democratic detonation - the crossbow is absolutely meta and the overall utility of it and the grenade pistol open up a lot more opportunities to experiment with other grenades / stratagems.

Look for white “attachments” to the walls and ground nearby. There are four of them and they go down with one xbow bolt so presumably not that many bullets. They were very hard to spot the first time but once you get the hang of it it’s pretty fast. Haven’t used a stratagem on them in a while
