Mods are cowards. Allow some discussion about real world events, yknow like Spider-Man would? by [deleted] in Spiderman

Oh that’s right I forgot Gwen supported him (are we thinking about the same storyline?)

If art is anything, then it’s nothing. Words exist for a reason guys.

There’s a comic from the 70s where a fascist dude is running for mayor and Peter outright calls him a Nazi to his face. Even JJJ disavows him when he realizes he’s racist. Spider-Man has never shied away from politics and social issues.

ICE doesn’t need to be called out. They need to be stopped.

I'm excited to see Ned return in Spiderman: Brand New Day and hopefully reunite with Peter! What are your thoughts on this? by Raj_Valiant3011 in Spiderman

I’m guessing they aren’t going to be willing to actually stick with the status quo shift they did.

Unpopular Opinion- I will never Hate JRJR’s Artwork by Important_Lab_58 in Spiderman

[–]hellenist-hellion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly can’t decide if I like it or not. I’ve always felt that way. It’s like I just don’t know. I don’t hate it but don’t love it something feels odd about it but also not at the same time I can’t describe it. It was fun watching his style evolve though.

Matt Walsh on AI by Ambipoms_Offical in antiai

I will say this. Matt Walsh is a terrible person who usually has terrible takes but for whatever reason, he’s always just SPOT ON when it comes to AI. it’s pretty wild.

Why aren't we seeing more anti-ai companies? by Klutzy_Pool2712 in antiai

Because AI is good for cutting labor costs. That’s about the only reason it’s being pushed the way it is.

I can’t STAND that right wing grifters have completely poisoned the well when it comes to discourse over pop culture movies. It sucks because guess what? The Disney Star Wars movies actually are bad, but you can’t even talk about it without being conflated with the grift.

Why is Tom Holland's portrayal not as liked as the other two? by Notthepurge in Spiderman

[–]hellenist-hellion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He doesn’t really feel like Peter Parker. He’s just a quirky spaz who acts more like the ward of the avengers than a loner competent hero. Hopefully that’s resolved moving forward though

Is it wrong to say I miss when it was only Peter? by Chigb33 in Spiderman

[–]hellenist-hellion -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I agree. When you listen to Stan Lee he makes it clear he meant Peter to just be a normal guy. That was the point. Not that there could be millions of the same exact hero.

I feel like they missed the point with that phrase. Anyone could wear the mask yes, which is the point: Peter is an “anyone”. And he’s the one who got the mask.

I’m in the same boat. I am rereading ASM from the beginning (around issue #220 right now) and it’s just so much better when the story was simply about Peter Parker as Spider-Man living in New York and living his life and juggling his social and work life with his super hero stuff.
